Carpaccio

Having read the other reviews I was concerned that I'd made a wrong choice having booked at Carpaccio, thankfully I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was busy and had a 'buzz', the food was excellent (portions a little on the small side). Yes, we were asked twice whether we'd ordered but 'so what'. Tables are quite close together. But overall a good experience - fairly pricey (£120 for 2 including half bottle of wine) but that's what one expects in Central London

As an Italian I can say that I know a bit about food and as a big traveller I visited lots of upscale restaurants in the world. The food at the Carpaccio restaurant is tasteless, poor and has no quality. On top of that it is overpriced, we ordered a starter that the waiter reccomended to us...well it was GBP 40 per plate just the starter...that is a lot for a starter if you know what I mean! Carpaccio has the poorest service, one waiter poored wine into my half full glass of Chardonney without even asking and not realizing that he poored a different!!! Very primitive!!Besides that the guys in the kitchen shout so loud that you feel like being with workers at a building site. The decor is nice, the address is nice. They just want your money that´s it. If you think that it is posh going there, well go. But if you think that you aren´t an idiot than go somewhere else ( like Locanda Locatelli, Maze, and so many more good restaurants).

The worst restaurant I have ever been to.
Tasteless and overpriced food, bad service, wrong decor.
The evening was a BIG disappointment.

Could not agree more with previous review. Arrived without booking and we were shown to a table. Every order came up wrong and had to be sent back. Service was manic with 3 or 4 waiters trying to pour wine at vertualy the same time. After various requests to slow down, the manic rate of service continued. Half way through our meal we were asked to move to another table to accomadate a party of ten. This explains manic rate of service, we refused and asked for our bill without having dessert or coffee which came to £160 for 3 starters 3 main courses with wine for poor food. Outragous, Keep clear at all costs.

DON'T GO. Tasteless, indifferent food and clueless waiters. I was served a salad caprese but the waitress told me that it was the bresaola dish - she had to verify with the chef! The veal with artichoke was a disaster - not sure what I was eating as there was no taste whatsoever.

Despite being Italian and potentially biased, I find the place a dump. Food is regular, portions pathetic (3 slices of carpaccio with a slither of parmigioano)and outraegous prices given the portions. Staff treat you as if you are a beggar and the loos are revolting. Good for punters who think that its cool to be seen in Chelsea and want to flash some cash. A dump.
