Wow, finally found a good japanese restaurant! The service was very friendly, and food is good, and the rpice is reasonable.
If you don't know where it is, it is a little difficult to find, but still a great place to go.

Really, really good traditional japanese restaurant. Really small and intimate. Ate here some time ago-- five or six dishes with sake, for two, total of 30 pounds flat. It's always packed though, but can understand why! Best value Japanese so far.

Followed a friend's recommendation to visit Asakusa and as a fan of Japanese food, I was not disappointed. We had booked as we'd been told that the place fills and were very glad - the place was packed. This lead to the only negative thought of the evening - there was a 45 minute wait for sushi. However, we opted to have our mains first and the sushi to follow. The meat was cooked exactly as ordered and melted in the mouth and the flavours flooded through. The sushi was excellent - for those not used to having wasabi in the sushi, note that it is the norm here! The restaurant was busy and our sushi arrived without the other plates being cleared away but I am not going to hold that against them as the food was great. The decor is basic but with food this good, you really don't mind. It was great value for money as we each had 2 large beers, a main, ample sushi and a complimentary green tea, which only came to £20 each (inc. service).
With certainly go back.

Having lived in Japan and realising what woefully bad sushi we tend to get in this country, I was amazed to come across Asakusa two weeks ago. The fish is incredibly fresh and very authentically Japanese. Go for the sashimi and sushi set menus. We ordered so much food and beer we were amazed to see the bill only came to £50 for 2! I loved it so much I will be returning next week....

One of the best restaurants across the board for all aspects of dining out. Very real taste, and authentic feel to the place and environment. Real Japanese restaurant in London.

Great little restaurant - extremely cosy but the food is excellent. All the sashimi, nigiri and rolls were spot on, the fish was fresh and cut perfectly. The avacado in the rolls was perfect and the hot plates - teriyaki beef and yakatori chicken were also very tasty but it's all about the sushi here.
Book a table otherwise you'll probably go hungry. I am definitely adding Asakusato the list of best sushi places in London along with Kulu Kulu and Fuji Foods in Muswell Hill (if you haven't been you should - Japanese shop with a fantastic sushi counter for take away 10/10).

This place serves the best Japanese food I've found in London. It's fresh, tasty, there's a large menu with a wide variety (not just raw fish - so you can take your more squemish friends) and the prices are very reasonable.
The service could be a little better; we had to ask when we wanted more drinks rather than being offered when our glasses were empty, though there was always a waitress nearby and they were friendly and quick, so it wasn't really an issue.
Overall it's an excellent place with amazing food! Will definately be going back and recommending to my friends.

I was invited by a friend of mine for the first time a few months ago and keep going back. It's always packed out, so you defintiely need to reserve, and it's not hard to see why: the food is delicious and the service is friendly and efficient. I defintiely recommend Asakusa for the next time you are in Camden.

I've been twice now and I'll surely be going back. Asakusa serves the best Japanese food I have found outside of Japan. I've even found a couple of delicious dishes I never ate when I was out there. Service is friendly, and they pay attention to when you need them without hovering annoyingly. The food does sometimes take a while to arrive, but the trick there is to make sure you order plenty of snacks, starters and side dishes too! The atmosphere is almost like that of a Japanese Izakaya, but I guess things have been slightly adapted for England. Prices are more than just good value for money.
