Cafe Pasta
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
What a disaster! After reading good reviews on here we decided to have a pre-theatre meal at Cafe Pasta. The minute we realised that there was no tiramisu on the menu we should have known better and eaten somewhere else. What other genuine Italian restaurant doesn't have tiramisu on the menu? Due to time constraints we decided to order a portion of garlic bread, a main course, a soft drink and a fruit juice. Having settled on Spaghetti Carbonara for the main we were both ultimately delivered up a almost cold serving of undercooked string. Because the staff seemed to have a ''attitude of dont' bother me Im busy'', it took nearly 5 minutes before I had to myself go up to the counter and complain to the manager. The manager reluctantly agreed to waive the entire bill, although I offered to pay the drinks bill. Just as we were walking out, he called us back, asking us to pay for the drinks and then presented us with a bill not only for the drinks, but for the starter as well! We are not overly critical people and want for no more than decent food and service at a fair price. My advice to anyone thinking of eating at Cafe Pasta is that you would be just as well off buying a packet of crisps and a bottle of coke at Sainsburys.

I went here last night before going to go watch Chicago. I had the steak rare and both cheesecakes. I have to say that they were all excellent. Very good value for money and especially as it's very hard nowadays to find a good steak cook. The food was perfect. Only problem was the waitress. She was a bit moody. Could perk up a bit, it wouldn't hurt. All in all a good meal. If like me you just go somewhere for the food (not the whole experience ie atmosphere and service) then this is a very good place. I can withstand rude staff as long as my stomach is satisfied (and no I am not an over indulgent eater, I am a normal healthy guy with a love for food). Anyways I went with 9 other people and they all enjoyed their food too! We were all impressed by how nice it was considering how 'cheap' it was for what we got! More steak and cheesecake please!!

I ate at Cafe Pasta last week (11/08/06) and it was by far one of the best meals I have had in a long time.
I could not disagree more with the previous review. The staff were bubbly and refreshing, who were so helpful and polite. The food was nothing short of excellent, with generous portions. I had a Brushetta to start in which the bread was just right. The salmon salad main course, was simple but done to perfection with a huge piece of salmon. My Banoffee desert was sublime, and full of flavour.
The atmostphere was a little close, but generally the smoking was not a problem. As it was summer all the windows and doors were open. The lighting was just right, and the place left me in high spirits (that could be the bottle of wine).
Finally, the value for money was EXCELLENT. My only dispute is a £14 bottle of wine, which reminded me of a cheap supermarket wine. The bill came to £45 including that wine, and a three course meal for 2. It was so cheap that I thought this must be a chain.
All in all 10/10 and my company for that evening is depserate to go back. I too cannot wait to return to london.

Visited 5th August 2006. Excellent attention by the waiting staff. Food - pickled Tuscan olives, seafood linguine and pesto linguine with garlic bread, a Peroni and a glass of Chianti. No complaints about the food and will definately go again when we're next in town.

I ate at cafe pasta for Valentines Day this year and was very disappointed. Whilst the upstairs area appears to be a smoking section, the downstairs area (where I was seated) is more a like a basement and does not contain any character or atmosphere. The waiters there were not overly helpful and did not impress me when they gave us the wrong entrée (and said “is this OK”) as well as a warm bottle of coke. The food was good, we tried an entrée pizza and two pastas however it was not enough to redeem the lack of atmosphere and customer service.
