I travelled nearly for 1.5 hours to go there for a Mauritian Party. When I made the reservation, they confirmed that dinner was going to be served at 8. But to my surprise the starter was served at 9.30 and the main course at 11. (I did not wait for the desert- perhaps one hour more). The manager does not seem to know what is happening on the floor. Some kids were already sleeping while waiting for the food to be served. And the quality was not worth the money at all. For £25 p/p I am certain that I can buy better quality of food somewhere else.Overall I was disappointed with the whole experience and will advise you not to go there.

I brought 3 friends to the Clay Oven tonight and was very impressed with the food. The karai gosht was excellent and the tandoori chicken was some of the best I've tasted. The portions were generous and resonably priced and I would definitely recommend sharing naan and rice with another person.

The only minor hiccup to wonderful meal was that a (large) bottle of kingfisher (which was not printed on the menu ) cost £4.50 each which we felt was rather expensive.

I wish to say that although the venue may be a nice classy one, we were involved with a Horrible Frightening situation on New Years Eve. A massive fight broke out, and there were only 2 guards servicing approx 300 people Including families & children. There were chairs flying, glasses being thrown, and the fight lasted ages. Families were terrified. The management are never available to deal with the issue (contacting them since Jan 2006). Our child has nightmares about the incident and used to sleep without lights after years of training. Now she has lights on all night. Our clothing was ripped having been caught up in some of the barrage. If there was better security, maybe this would not have happened. Very Upset with this venue as we generally enjoyed it beforehand. Although we would not reccomend unless you are prepared to defend your family with force. This is our third time, and every time a fight has broken out and has been badly controlled. Unfortunately its the short minded mentality of not looking after the customer once again, hence my review. ps food was fairly cold, and I would have thought as a gesture of goodwill we would at least receive an apology !

I loved the deco of the and style of therestaurant nice and grand. Food was ok all tested a little similar. Sems lik ethey like putting sugar in their food. Music was the biggest let down, they had calibar roadshow playing and all inall avery big let down, also very rude dj. i would not recommend for a dinner and dance if they have the same dj playing.

Valentines night at the Clay Oven, was better than I expected a bit of a rough start most of the staff where in there own planet, the crowd was nice everyone seemed to have a good time, my two nephews 4 and 5 year olds had a great experience. If the staff have a review in customer service the place will be very good. I will recommend, however forget about the waiters much easier to get drinks from the bar.

just visited there this friday. First of the food is ok at best. Some of the dishes tasted very similar to one another. However the service is very poor, the staff are extremly rude and at the end of the night tried to add drinks on our bill that were not ordered or just did not turn up. try montys or samarat much better in all catagories!!!
