My husband and myself ate at Bento's restaurant at the weekend and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Fantastic service, fab atmosphere and really delicious food at an extremely reasonable price. We will definitely be going again and will recommend them to all our friends.

I went there with my girlfriend last night and we really enjoyed it. It is definately not the cheapest place I've ever been to but the food is really good and thus justifies the price. If you do decide to go, you have to try the black cod. Although seemingly overpriced due to the portion size, it is absolutely amazing and has to be one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. Service was also very good and the atmosphere was nice too.

I've been here once and I'm sorry to say that I won't be going again.
Being from an oriental background and having lived in Japan for a year I have to say the food reminds me much more of a chinese takeaway - only served up on plate/bento boxes rather than aluminium cartons.
It's a shame as I believe they're are the only one of their kind in Clapham and so could attract a lot more business than they do; less dishes I say, quality over quanity, though still keep the prices reasonable. The atmosphere could do with a little warming up too, contemporary asian theme should so be over.

Bentos is one of the best restaurants in South London for Japanese and Asian Fusion! The menu is extensive. The Japanese Sushi platters are very impressive, the menu is pages long, the service is consistently friendly and you never have to book, thanks to the 'slightly off high street locale'. The place is relatively unknown but deserves a great reputation. It has a great atmoshere (mood lighting, original art, etc)and is excellent value with the deal they have (get there before 7pm and it's half price on some of the mains, including the large sushi platters). It more than rivals some of it's more pretentious competition! Well worth a visit!

I go to Bento quite often and I find the food to general be pretty good. I can't say I've had a bad meal there. We always go before 7pm, and then all food is half price (order before 7pm not eat before 7) and that is fantastic value. A large Seafodd Sizzle Noodles for just over £4 - brilliant! Sure it's not got the best atmosphere, and I don't know how it compares to real Japanese food in Japan, but I like it and the friend who I've recommend to go there liked it too.

I don't agree with some of the overly harsh reviews for this place. I recently went there for a meal with a few friends and can't think of anything bad to say about it apart from the background music, but then and again, it's not a bar/club. There were no orange walls to be found, I didn't come across any rude staff, in fact they were very friendly, food came out very fast, fresh and tasty. The only problem we had was deciding what to order as there was so much to choose from. Definitely recommended and I'll definitely be going back for more.

I have never been disappointed with Bento. The food is always fresh, fabulous, delicious and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and service is quick and efficient. The takeaway service is the best in town, always arrives really quick and hot. Not easy to find a restaurant that ticks all the boxes in London or anywhere else in the world for that matter! So yeah, Bento is a true hidden little gem. I don't understand people like Aisha, or whatever her name was, who thought Bento was awful but keeps going back for more...if it was so bad, you wouldn't go back if it was the last restaurant in Clapham!

Ah, Bento. Whenever I'm asked about it, I can usually sum it up in a single sentence. "Its overpriced and food isn't that great either."
I only ever go to the vividly coloured eyesore when I have a genuine craving, and thats only because it's literally a minute's walk from my house.
I have nothing to compare the food to, but I was never impressed with their sushi. And the miso at £3 a bowl? You can go to chinatown and buy instant miso for £2 for three packets, and it tastes the same. Are we shopping in the same area perhaps?
The staff are constantly bored (I assume the lack of customers might have something to do with it) and would rather watch television than serve you. How about a smile next time, guys? Even a cheesy fake one?
It's a shame that Bento didn't do better for less money, then they might actually have a full restaurant for once.

a friend and i went to this restaurant and was told it served japanese. if you call that japanese food then i can make japanese with my eyes closed. it dissapoint me and my group of friends. the service was terrible, the next time i visit clapham i would rather go to the local mcdonalds. it was expensive and the food was horrible. who said the food is fresh, i eat japanese food 2 times a week i should know if it was fresh or not. the next time you drive past this restaurant and think of going in, look how empty it is. yo sushi or the japanese restaurants in the london west end are a better choice.
