Brown Sugar

Dark and old fashioned pub style decor with 'English style pub-thai-food'. Burnt offerings for starters and greasy, salty mains. You would need to be very drunk to enjoy the food here.
Pleasant staff, but went to eat not to check out their smiles. I urge you to go elsewhere.

I went to this restaurant with my friends that I know in London and I found it gorgeous. In fact I loved the refreshing atmosphere with wood tables and floors, lighting decor and friendly service. I ate spicy and light food, in generous portions, with rice, curry and fresh vegetables. The wine was too expensive , so we drunk beer, but it was appetizing. We ordered a lot of different dishes, so we could taste a lot of different food, the food was rich, hot, smooth and tasty. The peole and the music in the restaurant were chilled-out, and the service was smooth and homely. At the end the price was generous, thinking about a lot of dishes we ordered. We left a large tip to the waiter, to thank him for the great service.

Since it became Brown Sugar, the atmosphere, cool, a bit more sophisticated and with the posibility of drinking or eating al fresco.
One thing hasn't changed -luckily for us locals-, is the amazing and affordable Thai Food served there, both Lunch time and Diner time. It would set you back less than £10 for a curry of your choice including starters. Highly recommended

Brown Sugar is a bar so if you are looking for a quick Thai lunch this is the place. The bar staff are not over friendly, but they are polite and the service is very fast. It gets very busy around lunch time especially on Thursdays and Fridays. I would recommend the Hot Mixed Vegetables with Chicken (Thai Basil and Chili). It's delicious here. I haven't actually tried anything else on the menu because I love this dish so much, but others that I have dined with have enjoyed the curries.

Me and 3 friends went along a few evenings ago after having read the rave reviews here. We couldnt see what all the fuss was about. Dark and dingy and could do with a serious makeover. Expensive drinks and no proper beer on tap. Didnt eat but it smelt OK. Depends whether you want to drink in a proper pub or a gloomy den smelling of spicy food. Wont be going back.
