I love this place for brunch on a Sunday morning (its just hard to find a parking place). The salads and sandwiches are great, the sauces too. The ambiance is really nice and when the weather plays the game you can sit outside.

I used to absolutely love this place and went there about every two weeks. Now, after a short period of being abroad, I visited again and was very dissapointed. The food is just hiddeous. I had stake tartare and it was the worst I ever had. The meat did not appear to be fresh (yuck) and the taste was bland. Furthermore, the whole thing seemed to have been taken out of the freezer and so parts of the meat were still frozen!! Portions were tiny and even the "tartin" of my dinner date tasted bland and soggy. What a shame! It is such a cute place and used to have a very nice air about it! Please improve the food guys!!!

I visited Tartine on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch after a friend's recommendations but unfortunately did not live to my expectations (which to be honest were not extremely high, I just wanted a nice place with tasty food for a relaxed Sunday lunch).

Well, needless to say that if you are not a "tartine" fan you should not even bother to go there but even if you are one be prepared that the speciality of the place will not exactly make a great impression. I thought it was pricey for the quality of food it offered. A random bowl of salad was offered for starters (courtesy of Tartine?) which were composed from nothing more but a few leaves of iceberg accompanied of a bad tasting French dressing. The waitress kept coming at our table, pouring our drinks in the wrong glasses. The dessert, a banoffee pie, was not exactly a pie and thought it stayed in the fridge for way to long...The place became nicer after 6 pm, with lit candles, more relaxed music and atmosphere but although it is located in a great area I would not go there again...

I have always been slightly put off this place by the thoroughbred Knightsbridge types crowding around the bar. But if you manage to negotiate your way past the long and lean types (and their clouds of smoke) the dining area at the back is a real find and usually empty since the aforementioned never eat. It is small but fun, the staff are friendly and there is a bit of a buzz. The food is very straightforward, all tartines (i.e. the french version of something on toast but infinitely nicer). I had wild mushrooms and my boyfriend had roast beef, both were simple and excellent.
