Little Bay (Farringdon Rd)

I can't believe anyone would write a bad review about this restaurant. My husband and I were in London for the weekend, staying a little bit further out than anticipated at the Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury. We walked past Little Bay on our way into the centre and checked out the menu. We thought it looked ok, so went in. The food was delicious, and the staff were great. Given someof the other meals we had whilst in London I reckon this really is a little gem!

great place. excellent food, service and value. good wines and friendly staff. i would recommend this little place to everyone i know. its a gem. i find it very hard to believe the negative comments made. i have dined here over 10 times and have never had, nor witnessed any complaints.either the authors are fussy or mistaken with the address. go and check it out yourself. you will not be dissapointed.

I had lunch here recently, with my husband, as a guest of a friend of mine. We were greeted & seated very quickly & courteously. I ordered the salmon & broccoli fishcakes as a main course. I thought the presentation was abyssmal - just one huge, fat, unappetising fishcake on the plate. I asked for some sweet chilli dipping sauce & this never materialised. My hostess & husband each had a starter & main course & seemed quite satisfied. I have to say there was bags of ambience and the setting is very quirky. The staff were very helpful but I don't think I would recommend this restaurant. My meal was pretty awful - in retrospect I shoud've sent it back - but does one do this as someones guest??

please dont go to the little bay in farringdon. the food is great, the staff are great, and the service is excellent. if word gest out about this place, it will be impossible to get a table. i have eaten at pont, bibendum, ramsays, ivy, and with the exception of the decor, this little gem holds its own. the vale of the food and wine is exceptional. please stay away to ensure i can get in every time i go.

I loved it here, first time I have been to a french restaurant and I am utterly impressed. Can't wait to return. I have told all my friends and family and they cannot wait to try it for themselves.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said of books: tis the good reader who makes the good book. I think restaurants are a bit like that. There are some people who decide they want to hate somewhere, so they will. More fool them, and I'm glad they'll leave little gem/little bay to those who appreciate it.
Since my friend introduced me to it two years ago, I have been back numerous times and have recommended it to many others, who have also loved it. I have been as a couple, in small groups and always successful.
I'm going tonight and I promise that if it is even a bit less great than usual, I will write another review...

My partner and i were very very disapointed when going to the Little Bay in Farringdon Saturday Night. Firstly we arrived and gave our name of booking, they the waiter who either couldnt speak very good english or was just rude, went to seat us. We sat down and where the table was postioned it had a huge light hanging down above my partners head, the kind of decor that should be in the middle of the table, we asked to move and we were seated in the back of the restaurant where i had to wear my coat thorughout the whole meal as i was so cold!. The waiters didnt seem to have a clue what they were doing and were rude.
The meal was very nice however out starters wasnt very hot. But thats probably another fault of the waiters not bringing it out quick enough. The whole meal seemed to be rushed, they just wanted our money and us to leave. When leaving knowbody said goodbye or thank you. It was a disgrace, because of the poor customer service i wouldnt return. and i wouldnt recommend anybody go there. so Mr Bay! get some new staff there running it into the ground...

I have never before been forced to eat a meal in my overcoat. Despite repeatedly asking the serving staff to close the back door they kept opening it so that I was frozen. The rest of the service was pretty poor. - plates were cleared away while we were stil eating. Overall quite cheap, but the food wasn't briliant and the service poor.

Went there last week for lunch with two work colleagues. The restaurant was really busy but the the waiters were still very responsive. The chicken that one of my colleagues ordered was pretty well prepared and tasty, the lamb I ordered instead was very insipid. They have a very good list of wines at really good prices. Best course I had was dessert: the chocolate cream was freshly made and still warm, which is what I call quality.
For the 15GBP each that we spent I would say it was good value for money.

I went to little bay in Farringdon last Friday for my wife’s Birthday dinner and it was an absolute disaster!!!
The first disappointment began when our 2-person group were seated near the repulsively ugly table 6 obnoxious people whose visage was so disagreeable that I neglected my delicious first course of Chicken liver.
The second disappointment came when it became apparent that the eating noises from the adjacent table would be extended when one of their group did not receive their main course on time.
The offering of free alcohol only abated this cacophony.
We agreed to pay for their dinner as long as they left immediately.
We demanded a pleasant night out but were rewarded with w*****s!
Ps Our congenial Latin waiter was divine!
