Like it's sister company 'Bleeding Heart Bistro' the Tavern is equally as bad. Waiters simply do not want to be there and hate to serve people.
The food (belly pork, fish and chips and fish pie are appaling. You would not be mistaken if you thought it was frozen food put in the microwave.
I regularly entertain clients and the whole Bleeding Heart chain of restaurants are so bad its is criminal.
If you want good food go to Lombard Street, Pater Noster or Coq D'argent.
Bleeding Heart made my heart bleed. Please do not waste your money here!!!!

My friend and I went to "The Bleeding Heart " tavern this morning at 11.00am for breakfast. There were only about 5 other diners there and we chose a table by the window. It's a lovely bar in the middle of bustling Hatton Garden and my friend and I chose the "Full English" which had vivid descriptions such as "home made pork sausages" and "smoked gold label black pudding". I ordered at the bar and asked for the bacon and sausages to be well cooked . A few minutes later a young frenchman in a suit served up the breakfasts and we were horrified to see that the ONE slice of bacon and ONE sausage were both half cooked. I immediately spoke up and said that I had asked for well cooked meat and he replied dismissively "Wait until you cut into the sausage" and he turned on his heel and walked away! We then noticed that there was no butter with the toast so I asked for some butter. A pretty liitle bowl of what looked like butter was delivered to our table. However, it was most cetainly not butter nor even a good margarine - it had the most appalling smell and taste. I then tried the "smoked gold label black pudding" as I adore black pudding but boy, was I in for another dispointment - It was the worst that I have ever tasted with a horrible after taste. Finally, when the plates were collected we were not asked if we had enjoyed our meal. I felt invisible and will never go back to that bar or restaurant. - dreadful experience!

I have to say that in the most part, I was disappointed with my visit here. We waited 15 minutes to be offered a drinks menu or anything to drink, my starter was 'scallops' which cost £12.50 and when it came, was one scallop, this is cheap. The main, which was Chateaubriand came right away, as soon as our starter plates were cleared and came blue, not as we'd asked for which was medium rare. The sommilier recommended a wine and it wasn't a good match, it didn't stand up to the beef at all. The dessert was disappointing and a bit bland, but the cheese board was the highlight of the meal. This meal clocked in at over £200, not good value. Go to Boudin Blanc in Shepherds Market for a much better French meal in London.
