Three friends and I ate at the restaurant yesterday lunch time and were very impressed. The decor was lovely ( I am always impressed by white linen table cloths and sparkling wine glasses), the service was attentive when we wanted something but it was not 'clingy' and there was no 'hanging around' our table. Best of all was the food - delicious! I wil definitely return.

A big fan of this Italian, the service and food fantastic!

I have been coming here for years and pizza, pasta and fish is wonderful, try the warm bread starters with an array of olive oils, crushed olive etc dips. Mouth watering!

The restaurant has expanded at the back so large groups can be catered for, perfect. A little gem in Victoria

I have been coming here 5/6 times a year for the last 4 years and used to recommend it to everyone in the area. Unfortunately Numero Uno appears to have become a victim of it's own success. On my last two trips the restaurant has cramed in far more diners than it's waiting staff and kitchen can cope with. The result is appalling service and very average food. If you do need to go here avoid the summer and weekends and you may be lucky get a great eating experience. Otherwise don't bother.

My (adult) children booked for a family anniversary. Although I was paying, it was their choice. I was pretty apprehensive having read the two reviews of 7 July.

Are they sure that they were at the same restaurant?!

The place was full. Despite this, they changed our table from being next door to a cigar smoker.

Our table was fine, the food was good, the menu interesting and varied, the service was efficient and delivered with charm and smiles. What's wrong with asking for more money for a larger helping? Of course such a comment should appear on the menu. In any case, it isn't in small print.

One small niggle, I would prefer an itemised bill.

On balance, a perfect evening.

hmmm... not sure anymore. I used to a regular diner 3/4 years back, however on a return visit the other day I was left feeling rather disappointed. The food was 'ok', the wine was 'ok' and the service was 'ok'. Overall you've guessed it, it was 'ok'... would I return, perhaps but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Oh and PS this joint ain't cheap!!

I visited Numero Uno recently and had a fantastic time. Place was busy, Italian food made me feel like dining in Italy and enthusiastic and friendly staff like at home. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys genuine Italian cusine in lively atmosphere. Well worth visit.

As ever, the food was wonderful. My linguine with lobster was perfectly and lightly seasoned, with huge chunks of in-the-shell lobster tender and succulent. My companions truffle ravioli equally delightful.

So it is with a heavy heart that I have to report this was perhaps one of the most disappointing meals I have had this year.

The service was abysmal. I accept that the place was busy, but to use this as an excuse to treat your paying customers with disdain, slopping wine across their glasses on the hoof, repeatedly failing to respond to the simplest request with other than a sideways grunt, no eye contact, no smile, no acknowledgement other than as an irritant, and to cap it all, the stare from hell and silent spinning on heels when on paying I tried to explain the lack of tip... sorry Numero Uno, you've lost sight of who pays your bills.

You'd be crazy to eat here until they start to address their awful customer service failings.

We went to Numero Uno last night on recommendation and was so appalled by the service that we got up and left after 45 minutes of asking to order about five times.

Both members of staff that we asked to order with repeatedly ignored our polite requests. We eventually got a glass of house white each, which was filthy, and still, after another fifteen minutes, they refused to take our food order.

In addition, they print on the menu, a list of pasta options that look like main courses with prices and then have small print at the bottom saying you have to pay extra if you want them as main courses!

The worst service I have experienced in a long time, disgusting house wine, and in a very average looking and overrated restaurant which seems to becoming a victim of it's own success. A shame having lived in the area for five years and sampled the incredible range of restaurants it has to offer. DON'T GO!
