Italian Bliss!

My partner spotted this small, cosy and very busy restaurant on his way back from work and said we should give it a try ... we have been back twice in one week and love it. Service it tip top, food is divine and it is well worth the money. I had pasta which was perfect and my partner is a very fussy steak eater and said it is one of the best steaks he has had! Plan on going back very soon.

After trying pretty much every retaurant on Nothcote rd this is the one my girlfriend always thinks of first, she adores the rabbit ragu. The service is friendly, everything I've had has been really nice and the atmosphere is very cosy, it's a bit pricey but its Clapham, what do you expect?

This our favourite local Italian. The service is warm, they even make an effort to speak to us in Spanish as they notice we speak it among us. The pasta is obviously home made and superb. Especially the papardelle della nonna. Would love to have the recipe!

My fiancee usually goes for the sea-food soup which is a hit every time and it is almost a main course.

Excellent value for money. Not the cheapest Italian in the area but totally worth it!

Delizioso!

Try to go for lunch when the excellent waiter Mario, just celebrating being 80 years young, will attend to you perfectly...

I love this restaurant. Good food, run by Italians and has a good authentic vibe. My girlfriend is Italian and tends to avoid english italian restaurants as they're not up to scratch. However, she likes this one and brought her family. Would definately recommend going if you're in the area.

had lunch here last weekend. lovely papperdalle with ragu. service ok but a bit insincere and felt a bit ignored. old fashioned, somewhat predictable menu but reliable, steady place. love the dessert trolley. but house wine at £7.50 for a smallish glass is way overpriced.

We have eaten here three times en famille in the past year, on each occasion with slightly diminishing satisfaction. The food is mostly competent but formulaic, as it would need to be given the breadth of the menu, and pricing seems marginally overweight. Excessive speed of service is a real problem. On each occasion courses have come to table with a rapidity that was mildly unseemly, culminating in 75 minutes for three courses on our last visit . Fine if pushed for time at lunch, but decidedly over hasty in the evening, suggesting tables being turned round to maximise revenue. Service has a veneer of warmth but can be haphazard or over-eager, e.g. waiter pouring wine into glass containing water. You will do better down the road at Antica Bologna, where more changeable menus have a rustic authenticity, and service is less hurried. However, Numero Uno is usually crowded, so someone is pleased.

I'm surprised that this restaurant is given such glowing reviews, it's really nothing special. The only thing worth eating there is the old-fashioned chicken in cream sauce, which I can't better myself; and the grilled fish. Every other dish I've had has been very ordinary, and a friend recently had a stinking dinner - bland and cold. House wine is ghastly, was lunching with a friend who doesn't drink and there was no other option.
