Pizzeria On The Green

As a Clapham local of 7 years, I absolutely love this place, my husband and I have "date night" here every Weds eve. Pizza bases are nice and thin and perfectly crispy. We have two pizzas, a salad, two beers and always get change from £20. Definitely much better value and tastier than pizza express! And the half price offer is permanent - in no way is it expensive.

The waiters are perfectly fine, ok they dont stop for chats, but thats probably because the place is always so rammed and they are rushing around.

pizza are not bad but very expensive now (they do a 1/2 price promotion but have upped the cost). I also found the staff unfriendly and will not go back. Pizza express is much better value for money

We have been using POG for several years now. The food, for the most part is good, well seasoned pizza bases and pasta!! The only thing that puts a downer on the place is sometimes the attitude of the waiting staff to customers. I am recently back from Italy, and the waiting staff in the reseraunts there would never treat customers in the way some of the POG staff do. They're not exactly rude, but maybe a hint that they actually enjoy what they're doing from time to time would be a nice touch!! other than that, as i say, the food is tasty and full flavoured, and the 2 4 1 offer is always a bonus. as long as you don't go mad with starters, desserts and liquers, it's a cheap meal out.

I discovered this place when i was still living in Clapham, 7 years ago. I have now moved to croydon and I still take train and bus and travel for 50 minutes just to arrive to Pizzeria on the Green.

I am Italian and i can distinguish a good pizza. The pizza are just great and the prices very affordable. I have tried some pastas also and they were good.

Last time I brought also my small son that is only 14 months old and he had a margherita! He had half of it!!

If i have to find a negative, the waiters should be a bit more smiley. Maybe I am used to the british customer service now, but here they all look so angry to be working!

Even so, a great place and i really hope they will never put the prices up!

I went here a couple of weeks ago with some family members, chosen because of the glowing reviews below, and I have to say, it did not live up to expectations.

Maybe they were having a bad day, but they weren't particularly busy, and yet kept us waiting a long time to order both drinks and food.

Yes, the atmosphere is great, but honestly, the food is not. The pizza bases were dry and chewy, toppings thinly distributed and average-tasting. I know you're not paying much, but claims below like "best pizzeria in the world" are just simply not true. You'd get much better quality food at not very much extra price at any one of the bigger Italian restaurant chains.

When we had finished, we waited ages to get our plates cleared away, asked for the bill three times before it came, and then still had to ask twice for someone to bring along the card machine so we could pay.

Come here for the price, come here for the atmosphere. Don't come here for the food, or the service.
