Yas (Kensington)

This was in my top 5 worst dining experiences in London. Everything about it was terrible. I will grant you that it looks inviting from outside (they have just refurbished it) but that is the only plus point.

The service was shocking. The manageress was friendly enough but she had no clue whatsoever as to how to take orders or run a restaurant. My friend jokingly commented that it was as if someone's mother had simply been asked to try and run a restaurant. The staff were like headless chickens. They were trying to work out how the computer system worked at the same time as sitting their inexperienced staff down on another table and giving them a pep talk. They took orders then 30 mins later came and asked for them again. Drinks took 20 mins to arrive. They brought a starter dish of fresh herbs and Persian cheese but forgot to bring the cheese. The bread was baked but then left on a table and sat there for 10 mins before we had to ask if it was meant for us and then it was brought over. It went on and on. If it was not so much like Faulty Towers in the humour of it all, I would have got up and left.

When the food finally came, it was somewhere between good (for the starters) to poor (for the lamb stews). I know that Persian food can be a lot better than this. I cannot think of one redeeming feature of this restaurant. Because of its location, many will unwittingly go to eat here but if you read this review, do yourself a favour and avoid this place at all costs.

Yas is one of the best iranian resturant that i have been in. the food is great and very tasty. teh quality of food is quite hight, it is exactly the same taste as home made food. environment is very friendly and warm.

I always enjoy eating there. I go quite often to iranian restaurant but Yas is the best one.

I have to agree with the reviews. When I went we had a terrible service. We had to wait over an hour and a half for our food to arrive (after reminding the waitresses to take our orders on several occassions), which meant we missed the last tube! Then when the food arrived it was just average - rice and meat - couldn't believe it took that long to prepare!

I definitely wouldn't go back - a really bad experience.

The last time (I have never been back) I went to this restaurant, our meat arrived raw in the middle. Apparently we should have specified that we wanted our kebabs well done! If you know your kebabs you know that no one ever makes such a specification.

Aboslutely the worst restaurant I have ever been too. Service was rubbish, utterly rubbish. Close to non-existant. It took forever to arrive and when dishes began to turn up they were wrong! Orders had apparently been misunderstood (while the finger pointing between the waiters and the manager continued, on the restaurant floor, we waited for our food). Dishes arrived in dribs and drabs, no fruit juices available in the restaurant either, so the kids we had with us could either drink coke or water! Great! Water it is then! Food was the worst example of food I have ever seen, especially from this region of the World. The manager was spoken to regarding the service ,and that dishes all came at the wrong time, or not at all, no fruit juice, moody staff, bland food which wasn't prepared right. He didn't really have much to say to himself in defense. Just nodded. Have some pride in your restaurant. Oh, and how much!! Damn make's me want to eat mcdonalds again and I don't eat junk food!

Do yourselves a favour go down the road to Mahdi's in Hammersmith which will make this place totally insignificant. Don't say I didn't tell you.

Enjoyed a lovely relaxed lunch with 2 friends. Food of excellent quality and value. Perfect venue when attending exhibitions at Olympia.
