Il Sorriso

I would warmly recommend this place - my husband and I had a lovely dinner there last Thursday evening. We arrived quite early and were the only people in the restaurant for most of our meal there. That said, we didn't feel fussed over or self-conscious at all - just a nice quiet, family feel about the place. Menu is quite short, traditional Italian with a good list of daily specials which we ordered from.

I had asparagus followed by baby chicken; my husband had mushroom ravioli with butter and sage followed by lamb steak. All delicious, especially the ravioli which was really excellent. Service pleasant , professional and friendly. Great bottle of red wine (sorry can't remember what it was!) - when we didn't finish it all they offered to put the cork back in so we could take it home. Not the cheapest meal out but we were very happy to pay the £80 bill as we had such a lovely dinner. Definitely intend to go back.

Not sure what the last review as about! I went there pre-theatre last night and had a nice plate of seafood pasta. My girlfriend had one of the fish specials (seabass I think), and was very happy.

Ate here last night with a friend. The starter was promising and very fresh; huge tasty asparagus stems. The main courses however were really not very nice. How can spaghetti go so wrong in a supposedly 'family' restaurant? Both dishes were swimming in grease and very tasteless, the bacon (well strips of fat) tasted as tho' fried in old oil and chucked in as an after thought, and the 'chilli' was non-existent. Thoroughly disappointing. Oh and the bread sticks were stale. Poor value for money.

I love this family run restuarant. I work in the area and have been here for many a 'working lunch'. They have just started doing jazz nights as well which goes so well with the wine and food!

I recomend their seafood or lamb with porcini's!

I have been to II Sorriso many times and have found it to be great every time. The food is always very fresh and creative great pasta,veal,liver very good fresh vegtables ect. The owner is very acomadating and if you let him will create a wonderfull menu for you.
