Went there last weekend with a party of 5. All had a fantastic meal and great drink. The new management is working great in The Grand Union. Keep up the good work!

Went there last week for a few drinks and ended up ordering some food. We all had burgers with home made chips and it they were fabulous!

Unfortunately, as we were informed after dinner on Sunday, the Grand Union has recently changed ownership (and chefs). Frankly, it shows (although one benefit appears to be that the South American Maitre D' who always seemed to be auditioning for leadership of the Fourth Reich is no longer "in office"). My sister-in-law and I ordered the same dish (cod & salmon pie). One pie had no sauce whatsoever; the other was drowning in pink mush. Both were barely edible. My girlfriend's chorizo & squid salad was a heavy, overcooked disaster (when in August, made by the previous cooking staff, it had been a triumph). The less said about what my brother ordered, the better. I really hope that these are just teething troubles - as a local resident, this used to be one of my favourite places for Sunday lunch. To the new owners of the Grand Union: please sort it out, and quickly!
