I felt the need to write as I had such an unfortunate experience at this restaurant at the weekend and am still upset about it now.

Lets start with the good things.. the decor is nice and the food as was lovely.

However, the service was appalling and the woman that owns it was so rude and offensive I will definately never be going back.

We arrived and I asked a waitress if there were any seats available. She sat me at a table by the window and then a couple of minutes later, the owner came over and asked if I had just sat there. I said no, pointed at a waitress and explained that she had sat me there. The women then huffed that she had wanted to sit someone else there but nevermind.

We then waited 10 minutes for menus which i eventually got by going to the bar and getting them myself. Once we had ordered, the nachos we had ordered for our starter arrived and then 10 minutes later the drinks arrived. We then waited half an hour for the main courses and we told there was a problem with our order (we had ordered 2 tuna sandwiches). This came and the waiter (who was over stretched but seemed like a nice guy) gave us some free drinks but didn't give us any cutlery. By the time i had got someones attention the food was almost cold.

When we had eaten i waited for the bill and eventually got the attention of the owner. When she brought it over, she said 'sorry it's been really busy today'. I said 'oh ok' and she said 'do you have a problem' and i replied 'well yes a bit, we really haven't had very good service' and she said 'well perhaps you should have waited to be seated rather than just sitting down'. To which i reminded her that i been properly seated and i wasn't lying to her and she snapped that it was her restaurant and she wouldn't be spoken to like that, would take the service off the bill and stormed off.

I was absolutely horrified that after she had asked what was wrong she had a go at me before i could even tell her. I would now avoid this place because no one deserves to be treated with the distain with which she treated us. Such a shame because the food was really nice.

Had a brunch/breakfast meal here, and found it to be really great! The veg enchilada I got was tasty, and the full english standard as it is, but very well done (and I don't mean overcooked!). Service was great and very friendly, with a warm personal touch that I don't often find in restaurants these days, particularly at busy times.

The prices were reasonable at around 8 quid for the enchilada, and 7 for the breakfast. It's on a pleasant road off the very tacky and plain high road running towards Putney Bridge.

I'll be back when in Putney again!

We went to this restaurant last Friday after being reccommended by a friend. A real disapppointment. Staff were really friendly and the atmosphere rather nice but the food was bad. I had monkfish which was dry and tsstelss. sauce on top seemed like coming out of a squeezable bottle. Potatoes rather dry and sad looking as if they were reheated in a microwave. My boyfriend's beef wellington was rather chewy and didn't agree with the surrounding pastry. all in all rather disappointing.

I've been to Moomba a lot over the course of living in Putney for eight years and have never really had a bad experience there. The service has always been great . About two years ago the dinner menu changed from a kind of 'world cooking' feel to something trying to be more serious, and the prices rose to reflect that. If anything it is better suited to brunch or lunch at the weekend, when the supplied newspapers and the excellent brunch menu go down a treat.

I had a fantastic 40th party at Moomba in December 06. We had the back room to ourselves - it just about held 50 - and was perfectly set out with some seating and tables round the edge and standing room in the middle. Everybody commented on the lovely venue and how delicious the food was, (especially the paper-wrapped fish and chips) and the service was friendly and enthusiastic which is just what you need for a party atmosphere. Ritu really looked after us both before and during the party and accommodated our requests. We've also had a lovely meal here on our own. Highly recommended.

what a great review from Sarah and very pleased she liked the write-up in SW magazine - I was lucky enough to be the guest of the SW Editor at that very review and was blown away by the high quality of the foie gras starter. The real McCoy, not some minced up pate or terrine. I have been trying to pluck up the courage to ask the friendly owner if I can have the name of her supplier...

Do visit - you won't be let down for value for money, that's for sure.

I went to Moomba last Friday with my boyfriend and two other friends after reading a great review in SW Magazine. I have to say we were not disappointed. The decor was modern but comfortable. The staff friendly and even though the place was totally full the service was fast and efficient. They couldn't do enough for us. The food was gorgeous and the presentation beautiful. Everything was fresh & cooked to perfection. We all ended up having three courses each (the menu was far too tempting). Great cocktails & wine recommendations. We were so happy with the place, we've decided to hire the venue for our engagement party! Moomba is a must!

I went to Moomba about a year ago and it was great - delicious food, friendly staff and reasonably priced. My boyfriend and I recently moved to Putney so decided to go there about 2 weeks ago - what a mistake. The woman in charge was a total nightmare - over familiar and arrogant... The starters were unbelievable; a smear of goats cheese on wilted iceburg lettuce with tinned pineapple, while my boyfriend's was foie gras (i.e a slab of raw, slimey uncooked horribleness) when we politely sent it back we were humiliated and laughed at in front of the full restaurant and had to argue our case not to have to pay for it. Over priced - terrible food and seriously irritating staff - whatever you do - don't bother going...
