My daughter and I went for dinner on a quiet Thursday evening and were seated very quickly however once seated, we were practically ignored until we had to ask the server if it was ok to order!
I asked the server what the difference was between a large salad and a small salad and was told 'the size' in a very offensive tone which made me feel stupid and inferior. I then asked how big is the large salad as I didn't want a huge serving and he then said 'I don't know what you want me to say' he then started measuring sizes with his hands!
Obviously there would be a size difference however I would expect someone who works with the public and in the food/pub industry to have a bit more common sense and people skills and not make the customer feel as if it's an inconvenience to ask a question.
The food arrived and was lovely however the server didn't once ask if everything was ok, or when we were finished, if we would like anything else and quite frankly his attitude was appalling for someone who works in this industry which is a shame as the environment and food are very nice.

Have gone to the terrace frequently, have enjoyed food and service from a fast paced environment. If people want full sit down waiting experience. Go somewhere else. This is a good value establishment with fun loving staff. Eye candy for both me and the wife. I take my family. Entertain clients and have my Christmas do here. Could not recommend any more highly. Keep up the good work

I have been to the terrace several times, both with large and small groups. I find the other reviews that have been posted very surprising. have tried many of the dishes, and have always found them fantastic, if slightly on the large side (which for many, I'm sure, is a positive).
The manager who worked there until recently was, admittedly, an unsavoury character, however he left several months ago and I know the manageress to be a lovely woman as far as I know. She is always mot accommodating to my needs. One must understand that she has an extremely difficult job.
All in all, I think the Terrace is a lovely restaurant, the clientele aren't always the classiest, but that has more to do with the restaurant's location that the restaurant itself.
It seems to me that people only ever write reviews to highlight the negatives and never the positives, leading to a very biased review.

On a hot Friday evening myself and two colleagues went to the Terrace recently, ordered a bottle of red wine for £20.00. It was served very warm but given the temperature we accepted it and the wine was OK. We ordered a second, the barman took straight from the display cabinet and not only was it even warmer, almost hot, it had clearly sat in the sun too long and turned slightly. As regular wine drinkers and members of wine clubs, we decided it wasn't acceptable and I tried to return it. The manager, refused to even consider replacing it and having tasted it, refused, telling me it was fine.
So the customer isn't always right?
I will not return here and would NOT recommend it to anyone, avoid.

Avoid. Made a reservation over the phone for my birhday, on a Tuesday night. When we arrived, no table were reserved, the manager blamed the lack of entry in the book, blamed larger groups arriving before me, and a first come first serve basis. Why take reservations then?
We had to call the manager again to come clear the previous group's glasses off the table. Waitresses could hardly speak English, barmen were more interested in stacking glasses and chatting to each other than serving drinks. Took a long time to get a drink at the bar.
Then, the final straw, was that the radiators next to the tall windows were not working, so the seating were area was freezing. The manager was obnoxious, and after I had a talk to him at the end of the night, finally apologetic.
All and all, embarrassing to take my friends there. Never again.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs.
My main complaints with The Terrace are the food, the ambience and the service. You will notice this pretty much defines a restaurant experience.
We went for lunch on 29 August 2009 so Saturday on the August bank holiday weekend. The restaurant enjoys a terrace around the perimetre of the bar facing onto Wimbledon high street. We arrived at 4pm for a late lunch and already the music was quite loud. The music also seemed a peculiar choice as it was largely hip hop and R&B (which I am a fan of) but seemed out of place for the ambience (which I shall get to) and time of day. The decoration looks like it was done by more than one person and seriously lacks focus. It is very disjointed and the staff were not helpful at all as to where to seat etc. From the beginning, I had the impression that we were entirely incidental to their day.
The menu also lacks focus and appears to try to have a little bit of something for everyone (curry, fish, burgers, ribs). The menu is also poorly presented, overwhelming you with choice but not in an intelligible format. We ordered a grilled calamari salad and the funghi pizza. The food was near inedible. My grilled calamari salad was actually fried which is extremely disappointing as I ordered it on the basis that I was received grilled squid not fried squid. It was extremely watery at the bottom and the addition of sesame seed is misguided and poor executed. Despite boasting about the presence of a wood fire oven, the pizza was burnt on the edges and soggy at the base. The mushrooms were tasteless but possibly overwhelmed by a dubious sauce and what could loosely be described as cheese.
Once I finished the food (out of absolute hunger, not enjoyment) I went to settle the bill and was mocked by one of the staff for apparently not being able to remember quite what I had ordered nor being able to understand what she was asking me. The place was overly staffed possibly in an attempt to cover for a busy bank holiday weekend.
I shall not be returning and I do not recommend this place to anyone. There are some great eats in Wimbledon Village just up the road but if you are only able to eat in the High Street there are better places to eat near the Morrisons. If Morrison's has a cafe/restaurant, I would sooner give that a chance than The Terrace a second chance.
