Very good value for money! Went there for a quick meal, the food was tasty and the service very quick (too quick at times and staff over-stretched) but friendly. They were all working hard and the restaurant was always full that night. Next time i'll book a table as i was lucky to get one this time.

We went to Locale for a late lunch at the weekend. The food was very good; it was simple but very tasty, 'honest', food. What was very disappointing however was the service. When my friend asked whether it was possible to have a larger serving of the Insalata Caprese, she was asked: 'You mean double?' When my friend hesitated and I asked whether it wasn't possible for her to have her Caprese at the size of a main course, the waitress turned to me and said: 'Yes, but I will charge her double' (literally).

Given that attitude I am not sure I would go back; although that's a pity, as otherwise it seems like the perfect place for a quick, decent, warm lunch in the centre of London.

I found Locale County Hall by mistake, i was trying to go to the London Eye..It was looking good from outside and i was hungry so i decided to have a quick lunch.

Well....it made my day! Really tasty spaghetti vongole and a nice glass of pinot grigio on their terrace facing the County Hall building..

What a location too. just walking distance from westminster and London Eye. thanks Locale

I've being dining at Locale with my boyfriend recently and we had Seafood Pasta and a steak. The food was great, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Also the service was friendly and efficient and everything arrived promptly. We skipped dessert. We would definitely recommended it

I live in County Hall and have meant to go to Locale for some time, to establish if it could become my "local" Italian. It was a bit difficult to find reviews for (concerning) and part of a chain (often not good news), but tonight, finding myself at a loose end and hearing about the "famous" 50% off steak on Monday offer, I decided to give it a go. Big mistake.

Summary: Service - completely overstretched. I'm sure the girls serving are well intentioned, but they are simply too few in number (typical chain problem) and hence you're kept waiting for long stretches, even before you've sat down.

Food - Poor. I ordered a sirloin steak (it WAS Steak Mondays...) and it was dry and tough. No excuse for it. ANYONE can cook a steak. The mashed potatoes were extremely salty, and the green beans came in two markedly different shades - half were fresh, and half were old.

Ambience - most of the clientele seem to be tourists hoovered up from South Bank. Including lots of families, with shrieking bawling kids. Great if that's your thing, not if it's not.

In conclusion, I'll never go again. And it's literally a 15 second walk from my front door.

Fantastic place to go and try the home made food. Good selection of wines and coctails. Friendly staff and good service. You can use this restaurant in many occasions. Well Done Locale Team.

Beware that that 'locale vouchers' are not all they seem. We booked online to go back to the restaurant on the 9th Feb. Our booking was not registered but luckily they had a table free. The service was slow but all was okay until we went to pay and were told that not all the vouchers we had could be redeemed and as a 'courtesy' they would take £30 worth. We debated the point and the manager got involved. He agreed to take £50 of vouchers enven though this was not the 'policy' on the agreement we "did not come back!!". Fine with us - we will eat somewhere were the staff have better manners!

I went to Locale with my girlfriend on Saturday night.

It was a sound meal all round - the linguine frutti de mare was delicious. My girlfriend felt the salmon, whilst tasty, could have had a few more vegetables with it - unless of course this was the point that you have to order a side dish with the main - but no indication of this was given at the time or ordering.

The choice of wine was ample and the prices were reasonable.

If you happen to be on the south side of Westminster Bridge and are looking for a decent Italian restaurant that is not a tourist trap with extortionate charges, look no further!
