Mimino
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
Mimino got significantly worse compared to few years ago. The owner somehow thinks that he can remain profitable by strict cost control through dropping the quality of food and maintaining minimum number of staff (only 3 people trying to serve 50+ guests last Fri), which results in non-existant service. Will never go to Mimino again

Looking forward to trying this place after positive reviews but wasn't overly impressed. The mixed starters were good but these were followed by a rather mixed experience. Ordered baby chicken with matchstick fries - well seasoned but dry. My friend's lamb stew was nicely flavoured but not mind-blowing. The main problem was the service. It wasn't unfriendly but was ridiculously slow considering only three tables were occupied. It took two visits to the desk by myself to even get the bill which arrived 20 minutes later and the change took a futher 10 minutes to arrive. Interesting place and decent value especially on 'Taste' card, but nothing extraordinary.

I'd been wanting to visit Mimino for some time after a rather good experience of Georgian food in St Petersburg. Thankfully, I was not disappointed one bit. It may seem a little odd walking in and immediately being confronted with a staircase leading you to a dimly lit room but if you have been to Georgian restaurants in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus you'll know you're in for a real treat.
The menu is not vast but contains every Georgian speciality one could possibly expect. Some of the dishes are not served during busy periods and this place gets busy in the evenings, especially on Friday and Saturday, so it's best to book a table.
The khachapuri is delicious! As is the lobio. But be careful not to fill up on starters as the main courses are where this restaurant really shines. The beef ostiri was my party's favourite choice. A hint of chili, a thin tomato sauce, plenty of garlic and coriander, this is Georgian cuisine at its best.
The wine list offers one the opportunity to try out any number of Georgian wines, plus there is also the option of Soviet champagne and several East European beers and vodkas.
I couldn't praise this restaurant's chef more highly. The rest of the staff were friendly, attentive but not too attentive. They certainly didn't pressure you into rushing through the courses or to leave.
There was live music on the night I visited which was typically East European. It may not be to everybody's taste but if you want a fun night out and know what to expect, this place is a real treasure.
