This place is a true gem.

The decor is striking on arrival and we all were pleasently surprised by the grander-than-expected entrance. What with the fountain, it does stand out from the rest of the high road shops and restaurants. Inside the decor is sumptuous with deep-coloured voiles and dark woods with intricate carved designs. It all adds to the feeling of an intimate dining experience when actually the place is HUGE!

The food was VERY good and I would recommend the Yum Yum fish platter for two which was very good value at only £10.50 per person as we took advantage of the offer they are currently running of 50% off the food bill.

The cocktails are lovely - even nicer during happy hour (5.00-7.30) when they are all half price! and I would recommend the pinacolada which usually is served in a whole pineapple - but was not today :(

Staff were freindly and attentive. All in all a great night out. Would recommend to any one. I will definitely be planning to go again soon.

P.S. Loads of thanks to Richard for bringing this restaurant to our attention and Gemma for guiding us to the fish platter :)

The atmosphere was bustling with energy from both the hungry customers and staff alike. Food is pretty good...especially for the cost. Fast and freindly service too. Great settings and front entrance adds to the vibe of the place. eat here if you like a place thats buzzing. Only thing that did not compliment the place would probably be the bland wall paint and mis-matched area by the kitchen counter.

This restaurant is perfect for a great girly night out. It is a great atmospheric venue...the kind of place for you to meet all your favorite girlfriends at once again if you have been too busy to see them for some time with babies and growing careers. There is a cool sit down area at the back where they make you take off your shoes and the design of the seating is really meditative and unique. Somehow you click into a feeling of buddhist tranquility without even realising it, your back straightens and you do feel benevolent. Just perfect for all those young mums that just need a night to dress up for themselves again because the interior and lighting is very complimentary to wearing something quality! The restaurant has been running for some time now, unlike most other restaurants in this area it has its own entrance courtyard and a real feel of space inside. The food is good not awe inspiring but healthy and tasty..no complications- just good food.. and it has wide menu selection of choices. I stay simple: Green curry with the coconut rice and a jasmine tea. The staff work hard so you do have to be patient with them....take minute to watch them in action and you too will agree they do need good tips for the effort they put in (actually if we all asked their manager to give them a decent pay rise then they would smile at us more). Also I bumped into the guy that designed the interior in the bar next door..he was very inspirational in his approach and he has understood how to combine Stokey Philosopy with Thai philsophy through the basic elements transposed allegorically into the design itself. someone has invested well by this restaurant and has created the right nieche for enhancing the multicultural lives of the young local trendies...well done!

We had a birthday party here at Yums Yums for 8people. It all started off pretty nicely, service was ok (alhtough it was fairly cold). However, it all started to go downhill from the moment we ordered our starters, tucked into it and realised that all the fillings to the starters were the same, it tatsed like it had been reheated and was very bland indeed.

The main course failed to redeem it self - as again, it was all very mundane. In spite of this - it was some what slightly better than the last time i had gone (and i've only gone twice til this day) - it was all absolutly bland and watery.

So then dessert came and my spoon was far bigger than the dessert (which by the way cost £10!)

And to top the evening off - we then had the bill presented to us, the waiter watched over us as we counted the cash. And when asked can you please do that away from the b'day girl (as you just dont want her to know these things!)- he answered back with a very rude abrupt reply!

To my amazement - no one asked whether we were ok the whole time, no one offered to try and ammend things, when clearly we were not happy.

Very disspointed - AGAIN (and i thought i'd give them the benefit of the doubt! 2nd time round)

Never again - thats what i say!

I went Yum Yum a few weeks ago and the food was great, with lots of flavour. The only thing was that desserts were very limited but besides that the customer service was good and the atmosphere was relaxed plus enjoyable. Even though it is a bit pricey it is worth visiting once in a while.

Food was average, but takeaways quite rubbish. My husband and I go to great lengths to get a good Pad Thai and Pad Se Ei, and twice we'd order takeaway and eaten there, and all times the noodle wasn't even close to the Food Court at Selfridges.

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant for the 1st time last Saturday. We have been living around Stoke-Newington for some time now but never had to chance to try it before.

First impression as we walked in was that the restaurant was cold. It was probably 18C or less I would say. In retrospect we were fine but still, we just didn't expect that.

The food was okay, if a little disappointing: I had the greasiest, fattest veg tempura in the whole wide world for starter (should have passed). The rest was okay. Not impressed with the desserts menu either.

What really let the place down we thought was the rather poor service we received. Really not professional. Really not that of a place that's been running for a long time.

We also found the food to be really pricey for what we got in our plates.

Overall we didn't have a good time unfortunately. But we will go back. Only not on a Saturday evening.

Visited Yum Yum as a party of 4 this last Saturday evening. Despite making a reservation and the restaurant being as big as a small football stadium we were asked to wait at the bar. After 20 minutes I asked when the table would be ready as my pregnant wife was hungry and didn’t want to prop up the bar, only for this comment to be dismissed with a shrug. 15 minutes later after asking again we were tacked onto the end of a table with a party of 10 sitting on it. So not a perfect start and one that defeats the purpose of a making a reservation.

Service was fine and the menu offered a tried and trusted selection of Thai staples. However the quality of the food was no better than at the pub that serves Thai food across the road or countless other Thai restaurants we’ve visited, and combined with the prices this was pretty poor value for money. Prawn and chicken toast was burnt, the duck curry had 1 slither of duck in it (the rest was skin/fat) and the crème brulee was woefully underdone. Fortunately the Beer Lao was excellent and washed this down a treat.

Average and overpriced. A little more focus on the food and managing reservations would be very welcome.

Yum Yum was our destination for a family get together and perfect it was, in every way. The atmosphere was just right, lively without being overbearing for a group consisting of family members between 18 and 52. The service was excellent and one tiny complant we had (re a drink) as managed with absolute discretion and speed. The food was divine, particularly the shared platters which gave us all a chance to try new things. I cannot wait to return with my partner to this gorgeous gem of a find. I am recommending it to everyone who thought they could never have a glamorous evening out in Stoke Newington!
