Fantastic French cuisine in superb surroundings. The steak is excellent as is the wine list! The staff are friendly and attentive and it won't break the bank. I have dined here a few times and intend to go back in the not too distant future.

A very good restaurant without any fuss.

Excellent food, excellent service, and good wine. Just a very good place to go out for a meal (if you are not vegetarian).

It's good, solid, French bistro faire served nicely, in traditional surroundings. Desserts were particularly pleasant, my main gripe was with the meat main courses - both were well overdone. Looking at the reviews on here, it seems to be a bit of a theme. Apart from the incineration though, it's a proper French restaurant.

Went to Le Saint Julien on a friday night for dinner and was pretty unimpressed.

As described in other reviews the service was erratic, at times over bearing, at others impossible to get hold of anyone.

Starters of snails and country pate were passable, mains of steak frites were disappointing - the steak was cooked as requested but the meat was of poor quality. The advertised frites were actually chips and were overcooked (how hard can it be to get that right ?), bearnaise sauce was unavailable but the substitued pepercorn sauce tasted of very little.

Another small irritation was the combination of very small tables with huge crockery and glasses - drinking your wine during the main course required an elaborate rearranging of all the items.

We went on the 50% off offer, wouldn't of been at all happy paying full price. There are far better places to eat proper french food.

We had dinner at Le Saint Julien last week and weren't overly impressed. Service was slow and erratic- it took all the will in the world for someone to come and take our orders. We ordered a half-bottle of chablis which arrived unchilled and was pretty poor quality anyway. Our food was passable but the quality of ingredients in no way justified the high prices commanded. While the starters of rustic pate and toasted goat's cheese salad were acceptable, we would describe our main courses as stodgy- they rested rather unpleasantly on our stomachs for hours afterwards. My husband had to execute a series of spectacular contortions to finally attract the attention of a waiter in order to pay the bill. There are better quality brasseries in London- in fact across the market you could try Comptoir Gascon and our absolute favourite is Galvin Bistrot on Baker Street- stunning food prepared using quality produce, great service and reasonable prices.

Good snails to start. Main courses of steak and lamb were ok., but the chips that came with my friend's steak were overcooked. The rack of lamb was good, and the portion was enough for me ( trying to diet), but I think others might have thought it a bit on the small side.

Overall, though a good evening - mainly due to good wine, service, lighting and ambience.

Welcome to France.

Le Saint Julien is exactly what many restaurants in London are not, simple, uncomplicated, and not pretentious. it's so irritating sometime to go out for a meal that when you find a place like Le St. Julien you are taken by surprise.

My partner and I went there last night to celebrate a late St Valentine day. We couldn't have chosen a better restaurant.

You step into France, a mall side street in Paris or a town in the county there it is where you can find such a restaurant. The best food I had since last September when we were in Italy.

The food was something to die for, perfect in many sense, sauces, sizes of the portions and the taste of it. Simply spot on. The service that is the soul of the restaurant itself was like the food extraordinary.

The manager seating down to explain to us how the duck was prepared and cooked is something you don't see every day. The waiters polite and attentive.

Being Italian I have to say we need to give credit to the French, they know how to present, serve and cook food and making it very French. Italians restaurants had on the other hand had either washed down our food to adapt it to the UK taste or created fast food chains. Shame because Le St Julien shows that there is a way to combine good food without selling yourself to the market.

A special thanks to the Manager, I don't know if he is also the owner. Simply a fantastic night. Merci, et a la prochaine fois

Nice restaurant adjacent to the meat market. Wine bottles shelved up all along the walls. Lovely, sligtly intimate ,French. I have nothing negative to write even the rice which wasnt cooked properly didnt matter. I just dont feel as strong as some of the previous comments. For around the £100 bracket(with 50% off on food) it doesnt jump out for any peticular reason. The starters were nice, the steak and chips tasty but not overly differant in any way. The service sped up a little after we ordered a £50 bottle but this isnt a complaint. The wine i gave 7/10. I best describe it as a place to visit if you live or work in the area. I would reccomend you try it but for £100 i will find it hard to rush back having so many other options within this price range.

My boyfriend and I visited Le Saint Julien at the end of last year for a romantic meal that was long awaited. The atmosphere is reasonably intimate and the staff are neither over attentive nor unassertive . We went with the 50% offer, which made it a fairly priced meal, having starters, mains, just one desert to share, and a bottle of wine and water, the price came to around £50.

The food is very well presented, my only small criticism would be that there was only one vegetarian option for the main course (but then it is a French restaurant) and this was a large bowl of small cheese filled ravioli, it was satisfactory, but slightly disappointing after the wonderful starter. I would highly recommend if for meat eaters, my boyfriends beef was cooked to perfection. I would definitely go again if there was a different vegetarian main option, but I would hope to have the 50% offer, as otherwise it would have been slightly over-priced.

My wife and I were in London recently, and had dinner at the Le Saint Julien. This is one of our favorite London restaurants. We had a great time. The food was excellent , as well as the service. The Le Saint Julien is consistenty good.

We also had a chance to talk to the french owner, who is also the executive chef for the restaurant. A very nice man who takes pride in serving up good food.

We highly recommend the Le Saint Julien.
