Little Italy

Visited here on Sunday 7th August.

As we recieved our drinks we noticed a couple refusing to pay on account their meal was poor and the wine was "like vinegar", so I guess we should have cut our losses then.

We were served quickily but the salads consisted of a bit of lettuce leaves and onions thrown on a plate, or a single tomato sliced with four bits of cheese.

The mains were OK, though not overly generous portions; however the linguine contained cubed chicken and was a bit greasy.

Needless to say we gave the sweets a miss.

5 'set meals' (starter & main), 3 soft drinks and 2 lagers - £91.10. Worth about £30 ~ 40

My husband and I dined here on a Thursday night. He got the four-cheese pizza which was salty and thin crust. Just the way I like it! I got the gnocci which was unmemorable.

The atmosphere was nice and there were lots of people there. There was only one waitress and a host for everyone though so service could have been better.

NB: the restaurant charges a 1.50 each for olives and bread. The bread was not so nice.

I also had the chicken pasta (because they didn't have the monkfish I originally ordered), and was very disappointed with it. They couldn't really go wrong with my starter (avocado with prawns and smoked salmon), but my friend seemed to enjoy neither her starter (calamari in some kind of tomato sauce with peas), nor her main (chicken and avocado pasta), declaring them 'greasy'. On a positive note, our waiter was charming, but on the basis of the food I had, will not be going back.
