High Road Brasserie

Ate at High Road House for the first time tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Experience didn't start well - faffing about over table availability (when empty tables were in full view and we were right on time for our booking), then had to ask for side plates for bread, ice for water etc etc. However, things settled down and all went smoothly from then on. Charming service, delicious food (the steak tartar was particularly yummy), good cocktails/wine. Small quibble: the apple crumble was way too sweet. Up against some stiff competition in Chiswick, but it's easy to see why HRH always looks full when you walk past...

The food was excellent - good size portions and our meat was cooked as requested. The waiter was also very helpful and attentive and the restaurant had a nice buzzy atmosphere for a Saturday night.

The High Road Brasserie makes a point of being open all day, as Brasseries are in France.
Unfortunately it closes between 5 and 6 PM
so we were shooed away and went some place else.

Perhaps they look at this site - we went on Sunday and they were perfectly friendly, children enjoyed themselves and birthday wife said fillet steak was perfect. Expensive and noisy but worth it.

Great looking restaurant - too bad it is ruined by the incredibly arrogant and clueless hostesses and wait staff. I have been there five times since it opened and have walked away every time disappointed. (note: believe me, its not my choice to return).
The food isn't bad - and the appetizers are actually quite good - but unfortunately you have to deal with clueless hostesses and wait staff to get to them. Thank god they have good bartenders - because after dealing with the rude and clueless hostess - you will need a drink!

Had dinner at High Road Brasserie a few weeks back - very disappointed. Ordered the Red Mullet with Shrimps which was overcooked and came with the smallest, grey shrimps I have ever seen. Service was ok, bit slow considering the reastaurant was almost empty (a midweek evening around 5).

Me and a friend ate at the High Road Brassiere the other Saturday. I rang up to book a table and was told that tables could not be booked for breakfast, which is fair enough so I said that I would like to book a table for Brunch at 11, I was told quite abruptly that brunch is served after 12 otherwise it would be breakfast, I held back, not wanting to inform her that brunch is a meal between or instead of breakfast and lunch and booked a table for 12.
We arrived there early and was shown to the noisy bar, my friend sat down with a paper placed it on the bar which was wet then asked harshly by the barman “do you want to move that so I can wipe the bar”.
Then we moved to our table, which are too small and wobbled, they need to sort this out as an evening meal would be a nightmare. Also we were sat on the pavement side of the terrace, which I also did not like as people walking past were too close whilst we were eating. The waiting staff were nice enough, and the food was o.k, my friend had Corn Beef Hash and I had eggs.
I will give it a try in a couple of months and see if it has got any better, however in the meantime I will going to Balans up the road.
As previously mentioned I feel the place is still a bit emperors new clothes with a lot of people

Superb.
Enjoyed most things but the Summer chicken casserole and the champagne with blackberries were most definately the highlight.
Will be heading back...... often!!

Went to the Brasserie on sunday night and had a great time........ funnily enough i had the Dover Sole which was lovely and boned at the table. Wasn't surprised by its price as Sole is a pricey fish even in the market. My guest had a great veal chop with roquefort butter although it could have been hotter. Great vibe inside and out.

I went there for a late-ish lunch today having walked past the place a few times and thought it looked great; the food was delicious, and I thought the set lunch menu good value (12 for 2 courses, 15 for 3), but the service was pretty dreadful, especially considering that they weren't full, and there seemed to be a fair few staff roaming around. I would go back again - every place has their off days (?!) - but if the service was bad again I wouldn't bother, there are plenty of other places to eat in chiswick.
