We usually use the ashtray on the terrace table. Sit down, flick a magazine & have a cigarette or two. No one comes out to serve, so we leave & go elsewhere. If anyone comes out, we would order something but make sure to ask for the bill at the same time - otherwise we'd end up waiting for another 20 minutes. Unless it's a hot summer day, in which case the terrace is packed and you never get served either. The staff's lack of attention to detail that is.

The place is full of local yuppies, obviously the food is over-priced, but how the customers tolerate with that sort of service is a wonder. The food is quite good though - for the price you pay, it'd better be.

This brasserie always has a great ambience and over the last year or so the food has improved to match it. Went on Saturday night and it was busy which is to be expected but the service was first class, attentive without being intrusive.

After sharing 3 small paltes for starters both myself and my partner had lamb for main, I had lamb chops with bubble and squeak, the other being a lamb on an artichoke mash. Both were very well cooked and went down well with the cote du rhone village.

With sides an extra it is not the cheapest but is great place both for couples or for larger parties and is heartily recommended.

We walked in here on a whim because we happened to be in the area. To be honest, neither of us were expecting the food to be great (places on a high street that look this nice rarely care about food) but we were both pleasantly surprised. Oysters were good, steak tartare was very good, and my wife inhaled her burger. House red was so-so, but acceptable. Service was fine, even though it was packed. Not cheap, but we'd probably go back.

Second visit here last week-just as disappointing as the first visit. We only went in order to give the place a 2nd chance

The place looks good but fails to deliver.

The worst problem is the slow and indifferent service. Went on friday evening -the place was not exactly busy and there were plenty of staff but they did not seem that interested in serving us. (We are not local media celebs -perhaps that was the reason?)

The food is acceptable but no better than many other places on the Chiswick High St.

White wine was served too warm-don't the staff know how to chill it?

We don't think this place is worth a 3rd visit.

I've been going to the high rd brasserie on a regular basis since it first opened. I've noticed a steady decline in their service and food quality. Last night we were sat down, next to the toilets, after having waited 30 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation. We ordered the cheese tartlet, expecting the usual delicious dish, but we were served like a dry supermarket piece of pastry with 3 slices of goats cheese which were served cold and hard. I complained and had this taken off the bill. We also ordered the tbone steak and were served an inferior piece of meat, which we struggled to cut, chew and swallow. We've now decided to stop going to the brasserie for dinner, instead we will only go for breakfast for a fry up. The reality is that this place is now become an expensive glorified cafe! No longer worth the effort. Oh and by the way, the eastern European waitress with the long face that served us, find yourself a job you'd be happy at.

I partly disagree with some of the reviews. Was here last Sunday for brunch: the place looks nice, cocktails are pretty good and we liked the food quite a lot. We would have loved to pay few £s less but overall we had a pleasant experience.

Whilst there are no specific times advertised on the menu of the day displayed outside this brasserie, one has to guess that it's only available until 7pm. Once we dared asking, we were then furnished with non-existing service for the rest of the meal. Either they took offence or the service is really non-existent. The comatose woman at the front desk should have taken the day off, and the loud lady beside us needn't have bothered.
