Enjoyed a truly superb dinner with my wife at the end of December. We were seated downstairs at the kitchen counter The atmosphere was great and the staff a delight- friendly helpful and attentive.

Cant' wait to go back!

We went for lunch last Thursday, after seeing the Terraotta warriors. The food here was just wonderful. We sat watching it being prepared and attention to detail is amazing. Langoustine fritter, to die for. Lobster ravioli, to die for. Razor thin slices of scallop with a ight lime sauce, to die for. Pig's trotter on crispy brioche, you guessed it, to die for. This is some of the best food in London and we love it.

my boyfriend & i went to Joel Robuchon saturday 12th january 2007. we were dining upstairs in la cusine of which we were pleased about as downstairs looked very casual sitting on bar stools was not my idea of a meal. we both had the tasting menu adn throoughly enjoyed it, the whole 9 or how many courses were superb. the food was very rich so after @4 courses we were quite fall, we asked if we could have a break before the next course. the service was good, the ambience pleasant and overall we were very pleased with our food and the restaurant lived up to its expectations. the one thing we would say is the wine was lovely and if they had paid more attention to us then they could easily have got another bottle out of us. we would definitely recommend it to others, in particular la cuisine & the tasting menu.

The service was appalling. In addition, they attempted to charge us double for the meal. As the table next to us had the same problem (they were charged for double the wine they drank), they are either remarkably inept or padding the tabs.

Downstairs has a much better atmosphere than upstairs.

Go and have the special lunch - it is brilliant value.

The service is brisk and prompt. Having the kitchen in the middle of long bar seating makes for a lively atmosphere.

We had a great evening as the food was delisious but over priced and I have to agree with the other reviews the service was awful! The wine waiter was so slow we only drank half as many bottles as we wanted so they missed out there.

My wife took me there for my birthday last April and I enjoyed the experience. The ffod was well prepared and attention to detail was great. It was classic french fare with a light touch. We both had 3 courses and every course was enjoyable. My wife especially liked the dessert and the pumpkin soup. I must say that the bill was 210 quid without wine!,but overall it was a good experience. Only for food connoiseurs though, most people would waste the money and couln't appreciate it.

I took there a group of clients and will not do that mistake again. While the food was of good quality, it was not excellent and it was set off by disappointing service--which was incredibly slow, surprisingly for a Monday evening. We had to hail a waiter to get menus, to order, to pay and ended up pouring our own wine and water, which were kept on a nearby column/table by the waiter. In addition, they did not have a single vegetarian main option on the menu, and their inability to whip up anything better than a bowl of roasted vegetables, which were really side vegetables, for our vegetarian guest was appalling.

Wow, I was treated for dinner here on Saturday night (7 Nov), all I can say is that it was wonderful. The service was fantastic, the cocktails to die for!!! and food amazing, we had a little problem with the main (John Dory), which they happily took off the bill and then promptly gave us little titbits to try as a apology. Never were we hurried in anyway, always made to feel special. I would definitely go again. Thank for a lovely evening.

13th Oct 2007

Went to Joel Rubochon for a second time for dinner at La Cuisine - the upstarirs restaraunt. Was interesting to see that prices have moved up - £95+service for the tasting menu and a la carte at approx £20 to £30 for starters and £40 to £50 for a main. The food was very good - BUT - the dining experience was very poor. Waiters who got their drink orders wrong (mainly as they were not listening), wine that was not topped up at ALL until they were reminded, a waiter who forgot to get a drink despite being asked twice, a waiter who forgot to get the mash with my lamb, a waiter that dropped a plate on a client at the next table and waiters that were running around like in cheap Italian restaraunt - to the point we got very irritated and asked for service to be taken off the bill. A complaint to the maitre 'd got a glass of champagne after the meal (which was sort of pointless at this juncture ) BUT it was interesting to note that they did not take the service off the bill - sort of completely missed the point !

At these prices you simply cannot afford to get anything wrong as you are now competing against Tom Aikens, Ramsay, the Square, Petrus - to name a few - and i am willing to bet that Rubochon will be closed in less than 2 years if he doesnt raise his game. We wont be going back
