i've been here many times now and i'm also in the restaurant industry. for me what is so good about trinity is the consistency. i know going here, whether it be the sunday lunch ( which is my favourite) or a tasting menu, the menu will be of good fresh, in season produce executed brilliantly......i've been fortunate to work with some ofthe best chefs in the world both here in london and in paris....and have eaten in many top establishments all over the world and i can say it is adam's (the chef) and the service staff's consistency that will keep this place busy for a long time to come.....

Trinity is one of the best London restaurants I have ever been too. The food was simply divine - a gormet delight! From arriving to leaving, we were treated exceptionally well with attentive and well informed staff. I applaud the chef and team for producing such amazing food. I am still marvelling!
I will return very soon and I can't wait.

I'm with Corker - not sure where the anonymous veggie is coming from.
We had the tasting menu (group of 12) and our party included a couple of veggies (as well as a couple of no seafood people). Adam himself went to a lot of trouble to adapt the menu for these people and in fact re-wrote the menu on the night to cater for everyone (note: we had informed them beforehand - we're not that thoughtless...)
I had a fantastic meal throughout but what I was most surprised with was the attention to detail for the veggies. My GF is veggie and to be honest a lot of restaurants have a very poor or unoriginal choice as far as she is concerned. It would have been easy (especially when catering for a varied group) to have fallen back on common veggie dishes but Adam didn't do that. In fact, for one course he decided that the salad he had prepared was not enough and whipped up an artichoke soup to be an addiitional half course.
The staff were fantastic and the pace of the meal was perfect. The food was original and delicious and very well cooked. We will certainly be returning.

we dined at trinity again last night, (Wed) and were thrilled with the experience. this is a restaurant that knows how to treat its local customers and although has changed a lot since first opening, now offers a very slick and buzzy atmosphere, service that is confident and food that isnt challenging but packs the punch you expect at this level.
both my girlfriend and i walked away happy to have the busy little neighbourhood gem on our doorstep and vowed to be back soon..

We ate here last Saturday and had a fantastic time. It was a particuarly hot balmy night and they sensibly had all the big windows at the front open, so it felt like dining abroad somewhere in the Mediteranean!
The service was impeccable - friendly and efficient. They kept our wine glasses topped up, the food came at a steady pace - not too rushed or too slow. Considering our table was for 9.45pm and we didn't leave til around midnight, the staff were incredible - maintaining a friendly professional attitude when they must have been very tired!
The food was good - delicious bread baked on the premises, followed by sardines on toast and three different types of duck. My fiance had duck's egg and the pork - the latter excellent (and as a chef he ought to know!).
Prices reasonable for the standard of food.

I am insensed after reading such utter nonsense from the anonymous female vegetarian below dated 16th July, and feel compelled to respond. The remarks made by this reviewer must be put down to her complete ignorance. Firstly her vitriolic and malicious personal attack on Adam Byatt is completely unnecessary. Secondly by her own admission of not knowing how to eat fresh peas from the pods. Thirdly, ordering pea soup when she doesn’t like peas. Fourthly, her revulsion of marrow bone served with a beef dish as the sort she gives her dog, remarkable comment to make for someone who claims is “used to too many good restaurants”.
I have dined at Trinity 6/7 times and my most recent experience was excellent. In fact for me it gets more and more enjoyable. The better understanding one has of the style of cooking Trinity has to offer, (seasonality, truffles’, marrow bone, pigs trotters, English shellfish) the more enjoyable it becomes. The staff are friendly and attentive, no pretentions, the atmosphere is simple but calm, (no music for a change), an ideal ambiance to take your time and enjoy the company of friends over great food and wine.
The food is quite unique and beautifully presented, obviously a great deal of care and skill that goes into it, and for the quality it is superb value. It is different than Chez Bruce, and so it should be. One therefore should not try to compare it with Chez Bruce or any other such restaurant but it is certainly in the same league, and definitely one of the top 2 restaurants in South London. The AA and Time Out inspectors judged it “Best London restaurant” well these awards are somewhat subjective and Trinity will not be for everyone, but one thing is for sure, Trinity is very good at what it does and should be supported.
By the way, the method of eating fresh peas from their pods is simple, pod them and the discard the skins. I think an apology and retraction are in order!

No wonder Adam Byatt keeps having to close his restaurants. If our recent visit to Trinity was anything to go by, the guy just can't cook. What sort of an amuse bouche is a plate of raw pea pods? It wasn't entirely obvious if we were supposed to eat them whole (they had crushed salt on them) or just take the peas out but either way they were completely unappetising.
My starter was more peas - a pea soup which wasn't that bad but nothing special. My husband's starter was some sort of ragout of tiger prawns (with peas, obviously) which didn't taste of anything very much. My risotto (and while I've got your attention, please can chefs come up with a more enterprising veggie main course - even Gordon Ramsay has put away his prejudices to come up with original dishes for us nutters) of girolles and, our old friend, peas, was salty to the point of being inedible. My husband's "beef-girolles-spinach" came with a marrow bone - the sort we used to give our dogs. Euch. I don't think the rest of it was too hot either but as it was my birthday he was too polite to say.
Pudding - a chocolate and caramel mille-fuille was better but the honeycomb ice cream it came with tasted like vanilla with a bit of Crunchie sprinkled over the top. Chez Bruce does honeycomb ice cream and it's, naturally, delicious. In fact Trinity makes me realise why Chez Bruce is so popular. The food, while being roughly the same price, is in a different league.
Trinity has a nice dining room, the service is perfectly good but if you're going to be spending the best part of a hundred quid a head on a meal, you want it to something memorable, not something you would feed the dog (except for the risotto which would probably give him kidney failure). Maybe we ordered badly, maybe we're used to too many good restaurants but having also had a bad experience at Byatt's old Thyme restaurant, I don't think we'll be rushing back to any of his enterprises in a hurry.

I went to Trinity on Saturday. It was the fourth time I have been there and it was just as good as the other times. We optioned for the full tasting menu with matching wines. Although all wined did not match that well, it was still very good!
Very seasonal food, a lot of peas at the moment, and everything so fresh and well executed. I really hope Trinity keeps doing what they do so well for many years to come...

This is the first time I have ever wanted to write a review despite having had some excellent meals at some very top end restaurants. Friday night at Trinity outdid them all! I have eaten here several times since the team's return to Clapham having previously dined at the former restaurant Thyme and the not such a hit move to the west end.. Each time I've been to Trinity the food has been more unique and delicious and the staff recognise previous visitors and welcome them accordingly. We were a party of 7 and asked in advance to choose from a choice of menus, which, admitedly, at first i thought was a bit of shame.
On arrival we were shown to the Chef's Table, which wasn't prebooked but made for a lovely surprise. From there on in we were treated superbly. The menu we had selected had 3 starters, 4 mains and 3 desserts to choose from as well as cheese. The chef leant across and actually offered to make us an impromptu menu from the freshest things in the kitchen that night and even though we explained one of our party was vegetarian he assured us this would be no problem. We ummed and ahhhed but actually decided to come back to do the tasting menu as by now we had our hearts and mouths set on the dishes on the menu! The amuse bouche set the standard and tone of everything to come. Amongst us we covered everything on the menu, everybody's eyes lighting up at each others but everyone equally delighted with their own choices.
My mouth watering tuna crab pink grapefruit combo followed by amazing pork belly followed by champagne berries I think was the winning combination but so much was everything enjoyed that even though nobody had selected the banana trio desert for themselves, we ordered one for the table just to make sure we hadn't missed out on anything! Two of the guys did similar with the cheese to again make sure all ticked! The staff noted the birthday boy with us with a plate of warm cakes and chocolate 'happy birthday', another lovely touch of the evening.
You know you've had a great night when you conversation steers towards which upcoming occasions you can come back for before you've even left! I've read reports of comparisons to other high end restaurants in the area and the like but in my opinion if you want better, more original food with none of the stuffiness, this is the place to come!

I have dined at Trinity often now as I live in the area, on our most recent visit we all really enjoyed the tasting menu, great value for money for such delicious and interesting food. Trinity was welcoming to our vegetarian! which meant they could dine with us on the tasting menu.
Our waiter was fantastic - knowledgable but not stuffy which fitted the restaurant perfectly.
If you can get away from work lunch is definetly worth a visit, such great value with 3 courses £20, and still delicious food....highly recommended!!
