This place is OK if you need to eat something quick before theatre or whatever.

It's a nice enough basement venue, quite well-presented, decent service [quick certainly, and so on.

The food is not on a par with really good tapas restaurants. Even the staples aren't particularly well done, e.g. the 'patatas bravas' is basically a small mound of roast potatoes with a little tomato sauce poured onto the top of the pile, the croquettes were very soggy & fragile, the tortilla seems a bit like the pre-made ones you can buy in a supermarket.

But none of it was disgracefully bad.

I am surprised to find anyone suggesting this restaurant has some of the best tapas in London. To be clear the best test in my opinion is the patatas bravas test - our table received a plate of tasty potatoes topped with what seemed to be tinned tomatoes. To make matters worse the sauce had separated so that a watery juice sat at the bottom of the dish. They clearly had a sauce issue that night because I also ordered a dish with ajillo sauce which turned out to be just plain mayonnaise. Mediocre but good prices - I won't be going back, plenty of tasty tapas bars around!

Excellent food, shame about the service

Tapas was some of the best quality I've eaten in London and at a good price. Agree that it's a gem of a place especially given the location just steps away from the myriad of tourist traps surrounding Leicester Square.

Shame about the service though - two waiting staff on duty, the lady was courteous and attentive, the man was sullen and miserable. Having placed our order I asked for a recommendation to top things off - I received a shrug and a dismissive response. I had to ask for water three times before it was brought over… Then as we left I smiled at them both and said "Thank-you" - the lady smiled and nodded, the guy looked at me and raised his eyebrows...

I’d have recommended this place hands down to anyone looking for a quick pre-theatre bite if not for this unnecessarily rude service. Hey ho…!

I've eaten here twice in the past 2 weeks after discovering it by chance and being really quite delighted with it. Really I think it's a little gem. The menu is not just bog standard tapas fare, there are some unusual items on there I've not had anywhere else as well as the usuals you'd expect and everything I've eaten has been excellent quality, fresh, tasty and apparently authentically Spanish, backed up by the fact that the staff are all Spanish too, the house wine is delicious and both times the bill has come to approx £30 a head including wine which I think is excellent. It's a great central location but not over busy, yet. Check it out before the secret gets out and it becomes as popular as it deserves to be.
