Good food for Vegetarians and the decor also makes the atmosphere cosy and relaxed.

Visited this restaurant last night 5.2.2010. Was happy and impressed with the service.
The food was divine, maybe the portions could have been bigger though.
The waiters and staff were all very polite, and the belly dancer was fun and made a pleasant surprise to the night.
We were allowed to stay till very late finishing our drinks, as a matter of fact we left well after 12.30 ish.
Would definately visit again, and have already recomended it to 2 people , one who is going tonight.

Great food, great service, a true taste of Moroccan cuisine, albeit in London.

This was truly one of the worst restaraunts I have ever been to in my life.
I came with my partner on a busy day. The staff first of all gave me the wrong menus, they then gave me the wrong breakfast, totally different to the one advertised, and without a sausage, hash browns or the grilled vegetables.
The food was cold, the vegetables were very old and they were unable to provide butter or any condiments when asked.
To make it worse it took twenty minutes just to get the coffee and another twenty to get the food.
There were no apologies at any stage for the food and the waiters struggled to understand basic phrases, basic competence in English is a prerequisite for this sort of customer-facing role.
The food was awful, the service was terrible, the only positive thing about the place is the interior, they have great decor.
I would avoid this restaraunt at all costs, I should have joined in the numerous people that were leaving after ten minutes of not being served.

We had a good night despite the restaurant.
When we were eventually given menus (which took 20 mins) there was no apology for the delay. Having finally ordered the food took an eternity to arrive. What came through was okay, but alas, one of the starters was missing. We complained. Nothing happened. When the waitress appeared to clear the table she asked if all was well. We said no – again – and demanded a free bottle of wine.
Several years later the mains appeared. The portions were huge, although the waitress had no idea who had ordered what and at one point brought us food only to take it away. We had desserts, one arrived much later than the rest.
To cap things off, when the bill materialised we'd been charged for the (wonderful) service twice. Twice! Which came to over £40, on a £120 meal. Again we complained and they took the full service charge off. They then brought us strange-but-quite-fun shots for free.
We laughed about it all, but really I was embarrassed to have booked it.

I came to Bouga looking for some escapism without having to compromise on food quality and value for money. Myself and my fiancee found the surronding area quaint and Bouga's atmosphere fitting for our Romantic meal.
I spoke to the waiter about the art deco and he gave me some a gems of knowledge on the marriage of Moroccan culture Spanish culture and food. My patner and I decided to have one Moroccan dish The Meshwi and The sea food Paella. With the duck brouchette and The Bouga Feast another main. The food was is soo Moorish in this restaurant that we could not help but order more than we could eat. The service was charming and I felt as though I was in a tucked away corner of Marrakesh. Later on The belly dancer who I am sure is a professional dance teacher! entertained us for what felt like an hour at least she was not intrusive at all and was also soo friendly and gentle with the customers , she seemed to be giving people lessons on how to move Shakira style in a really easy to learn way ; in the end we wanted to get up and have a a little lesson oursleves and my fiancee who has two left feet learnt a few moves!
I would say all in all it was a charming and Moorish night and that we will be back very soon to try some more Bouga food, if your looking for quality food and a seductive atmosphere; then this is the spot.

Went last night with my boyf. Really very good, and hidden away which we loved.
Sit right at the back and have the Lamb Tagine, boyf had the Chicken Pastilla (really tasty, but i'm not big on chicken).
Shame, we didn't try the Sheesha thing. so much easier then venturing into westend for a taste of Middle Eastern.

I'm not the most ambitious when it comes to trying new foods, but living in N8 means I have to try new things once in a while. We booked a cosy table for four - my partner, his sister and my daughter, who adores Morocco having traveled the breadth of the county on a 4month excursion. Food wise- we were in good hands with my daughter on board.
Now to food : We ordered a different dish each, in fact my daughter ordered for us : ). The signiture dish Lamb Tagine is divine, it's like nothing i have ever eaten yet it's not to spicy, too exotic-y, good quality lamb in delicious flavours that's it. Tjhough, I'm not huge on Sweetness in dishes the Prunes go perfectly with the lamb. My daughter is a Veggie and had a perfect Veg Couscous, my partner was blown away by the Meshwi (he is a big fan of Moroccan food) and his sister ordered a safe Veg Paella ( alittle like me when it comes to food). I sincerely tried everything from everyone's plate and enjoyed it. The strange thing is that I don't eat out very often and i'm not huge on new foods. But the chef in this place totally converted me. The dishes were so delicious, so moorish and so fresh.
Really worth a venture. If you are like me and unsure about exotic foods Bouga will convert you, it's suits my palate perfectly.

I and my family had a meal at Bouga and I ordered Lamb and Prunes as my main dish and when it was served there was Lamb but no prunes!! I complained to the staff and was told that " the prunes get dissolved in the sauce".
I find this ridiculous as I have been to other moroccan restaurants and had the same dish and can see and taste the prunes always and when I told the staff this they simply insisted the prunes are dissolved in the sauce and gave me a minor discount!!
The service was appalling ( only one waitress for the whole restaurant ) and we were told the card machine was not working properly so cash would be preferred - in my opinion a way to make more money.
As a result I will never be eating at this place again and if I were you I would stay away too.

Having visited most of the restaurants in Crouch End, I can say with confidence that this one is probably the worst. I had a horrible experience here. I ordered a mixed grill platter. The lamb was so fatty and tough that it was inedible. I sent it back uneaten. I was still charged for this dish. When I queried this, the bill was reduced by £3 only so I was still charged £8 for a dish that no one would have eaten. I found the waiters’ attitude very intimidating. I strongly recommend you avoid this place.
