This place has started a thursday night event for students which i think is a pity. Previously a 21+ venue, it was a very pleasant place to spend a night out but with them now opening the doors to over 18's (possibly in desperation for extra business) I fear Tonky's image will suffer. A really bad move!

This was my first time and DEFINITELY the last time here. The bouncer at the door was drunk when I got there at 9.30 and I was asked for an id when I didn’t hear what he said I was asked if I speak English in an Indian accent. The atmosphere inside was very nice and the drinks and food was too. The bar staff were friendly –pity this was not reflected on the door staff. They randomly threw people out aggressively.

I went to Tonky last night (saturday) and was very disapointed with the whole experience.

At the entrance

I'm 36 and was asked for ID? I look like i'm in my thirties. I was asked to remove my jacket as it had a hood...I don't have a skin head, tram lines on my eyebrows or L.O.V.E H.A.T.E tatooed on my knuckles. Just your average bloke.

The door are staff are rude, impatient, and dis-organised, by comparison, other bars have door staff who are patient, courteous and can distinguish the difference between decent people and idiots. The security here do not have a clue. Just watch them at work. My wife tells me every weekend a fight breaks out outside the bar, sure enough I witnessed one last night. The door staff were slow to respond.

The Bar.

On display is a beautiful array of drinks on a large stepped, bottom lit pillar.

However this is not mirrored by the skills of the staff. There are some Bar staff who are passionate about their job, know how to make drinks and can be creative, a joy to watch.

Not so at Tonky...one bartender had difficulty finding the Bourbon I wanted, another said they don't stock it?

So they lack some experience, whilst there is some evidence of some training give ( I asked for a white russian that was not on the meu) the staff lack the edge.

General ambiance.

Nice decor, about 6 LCD screens, two seating areas formal and social, mini dance floor, the guy who sells aftershave and loliipops in the toilet, and a girls who walks around trying to sell sambuca shots. If your looking for a cliche'd bar this is it!!

The punters who are in the place seem fine, intelligent although there is also a healthy mix of wanna be rude boys so my cousin sisters tells me.

Visit Tonky and have a lovely night.

I thought this place was great, i visit regularly and am always going there for the food. to be honest the food is the best thing about the place and during the footie season there is quite a good atmosphere...

on the weekend there is a bit of a crowd but if all of those below are complaining about it being crowded maybe the park is the place for you. the vibe is good music is good, food is good its all good...

at the end of the day its local its nice its cool... when you cant be bothered to venture out at least you know you have a half decent place to chillout if you fancy a quick drink at your local...! and you can get away from somewhat drab brent / harrow in TG's

DEfinately Thumbs UP!

I had understood from my research that Tonky Gorilla was a revamp of an old MacDonalds restaurant, I was quitely impressed by what they had managed to turn it into ...although the location townwise, streetwise did let it down a bit ... inside the atmosphere is a bit overwhelming the front part of the venue is OK, decked out with cushion stool type things but as you move towards the back and see whats going on with that dance floor - that is the area which lets it down for me, I can't stand any place where you cannot dance easily or for that matter - swing a cat.

And whats with those folks who seem to take up precious dance floor space with absolutely no intention of actually dancing ....aaargh.

Anyway its a worthy effort but it just lacked the space - or maybe they should reduce the number they allow into the place you so you all have a bit more space to breath.

I agree with everyone who hates the place. its completely rubbish .ill give them credit for making it look nice but other than that rude staff. didnt get in the first time for wearing trainers FAIR enough as long as half the crowd in there already where wearing trainers so wats that all about. to be honest the tv screens would be better of in my bedroom and id rather sit at home and watch paint dry that go to this place!

I visited Tonky last Friday.

Was impresed by the decor, technology and genral ambience. Wird that its in kingsbury though. Doesn't fit well.

Anyway, the bar - i waited about 4 minutes for my 1st drink and time the second 7 minutes! That is a long time.

Yes it was busy with the 18 yr old gangsta hoodie types which re inforced my opinion that this place is located in totally the wrong place and attracted clearly not a great crowd.

Sorry folks thumbs down.

I agree with the below... Rude attitude of bar staff, and security... Really spoils your evening. I guess it appeals to the market that hasn't yet ventured out into the real world!
