We went there for a birthday on two occasions. On the first, service was great, food delicious (there were only 3 of us). On the second, there were 18 of us. I don't think they are good at group bookings. It took an hour to get the starter and some of it was cold and the main meal took two hours to arrive. My guests were not happy and were starving by the time and I was very embarrassed.

We went to the restaurant last night (23 May 2012). It was a lovely sunny warm day, so my partner and I decided to go to the Carribean scenes Royale which is near the London Excel centre.
As we walked in to the restaurant, it had a great vibe and the great weather definitely attracted more customers that day. We first ordered 2 cocktails which weren't too bad. The drinks and food orders were placed at the same time. We sat outside from 8pm and by 9.20pm we were still waiting for the food staving. We were talking to the table next to ours and they were also very disappointed, very hungry and upset about the long wait for food.
When the food finally arrived, I was even more disappointed that the goat curry rice was chewy and tasted horrible. My partner had a jerk chicken salad which was alright, but you can't really go wrong with salad. We went to the manager and complained about the food and poor services. It was like climbing mountain but they offered 25% discount which I feel it was still over priced as I only had a 10% of my dinner and it was not good.
The shortage of staff might be part of the reasons of the long wait, and one of the waitress was cooking at the kitchen half way through the night. However, we paid almost £50 (after the discount) for a very rubbish meal and rubbish service. Our night was totally ruined by this ridiculous restaurant experience and went home hungry.

booked a table for a drink online tonight, with friends, somehow the manager seem a little confused, Im not sure why as she saw the booking on the computer but it seem as if it came as a surprise. anyway found out later that we did not need to book for the bar for a drink and snacks. london eating does give the option of booking for the hurricane bar!!!
anyway the atmosphere is alive and buzzing and the musician is very passionate about his music and he and his partner makes a good team.
didnt go for mains tonight, just starter cake and wine. but we all have take aways leaving with because the food smell so good.
just went there to show a friend the place for her wedding. she is pretty impressed, but hope by july they will reopen the main road to the restaurant so it is more accessible.
the robert moncuit house champagne is tops. will be going again with work mates soon, but the boss will pay. LOL!
didnt like the crab cakes and wouldnt have them again, ( i prefer the saltfish cakes in the one in stratford) but the goat cheese with spinach and cassava chips is to die for. the prawns were good but a little messy. the money bags, were amazing, the wings were nice, and the palntain rounds were brilliant, the portions was large, the passion fruit cake hmmm! Hmmm! gorgeous.
would love some really salty and spicy food for bar snack though.

i dined at this fantastic restaurant on the 26th on october and on the 8th of october for my birthday. I am surprised at some of the negative reviews, its really sad that some people did not have a good time, but on both occasions I had a fantastic time, likewise my firends and we all vow to go back.
Because of some of the revews on this site, i decided to pay atention to the overall service and from what I could see, everyone was pretty happy with their food and the service. there was a family of six sitting close to us in the tached area and we had a chat with them and they too thought the food was amazing and the staff were friendly.
we were served by rose and kaza on our first trip and they were chatty and friendly, and a few nites ago were were served by sandra the manageress and she was warm and welcoming and checked back on us regularly. one of my friends were very impressed with the place and ask for the managers numnber.
this is a lovely location and the food is amazing, have the curry goat, and the oxtail. we even got fried dumpling with cheese to nibble on while we waited for our food.
the cocktails are fantastic and the wait as resonable. I will go back any time and would highly recommend.

i am amazed this restaurant is up and running i know its meant to be a themed establishment but ive never seen a caribbean restaurant with a set menu!!!! if i go into a jamaican shop for food,i expect them to have a wide variety not a few meals.they sat us by the counter so we kept on getting barged by the waitress also £17 pound for a dinner, its ridiculous, and the portion is small! ive eaten more for a £8 meal in my local caribbean shop, which by the way is the best caribbean take away ive tasted and i know my food and shops to eat! bings restaurant birmingham if you would like to try it! caribbean scene needs to expand its menu, teach waitresses manners and lower there prices as the whole scene dont add up!!!

I have visited this restaurant (Royal Victoria) on three occasions. Once I ordered takeaway, the second time was for my husband's 40th with a party of over 70 people including children, and the third time was for our family of 4 adults and 2 children.
On each occasion the food was superb, the service friendly and the atmosphere is unparallelled by any other Carribbean restaurant I know in this country. I did a lot of research into several Carribbean restaurants within the M25 and this one was the best by far for the combination of service, food and atomosphere.
The food is beautifully and stylishly presented, the music is fab and the restaurant sits on the water in the docklands. There is NCP parking within 5 minutes walk (£10 it cost us each time we visited). The view of the sunset against the dome, bridge and water is calming and beautiful. I recommend the desserts highly, especially the variety of ice-creams on offer. I have to be honest, the cheesecake is frozen so disappointing but there is so much else to choose on the dessert menu. The cognac ice cream is super!
For the party we were looked after from the day of first enquiry right to the end of the party. The live band is very very good.
It is not cheap but then its not fish and chips, is it?
I highly recommend this restaurant..

I had my 40th birthday celebration here with my family. 23 of us in total including kids. Myself and my guests thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and enjoyed the delicious dishes. I had comments back from my relatives expressing how much they were impressed with the presentation of the food and the delicious taste of the dishes, especially the rum and fruit punches which went down a treat!
Great location with a view of the docks, warm ambience and helpful staff. We all had a great time. We would definitely consider coming back again.
I would recommend anyone wishing to host their birthday party to have theirs there, and to ask for the head of hospitality (Valerie) who is very attentive, helpful and a pleasure to speak to.
On behalf of myself and my family....thank you thank you thank you.....keep up the good work!

I went to this restaurant on 2nd of July and had not been since it first opened because I live 2 hours away and don't visit London that often. There were three of us and we had a really good time. The staff were very attentive and the drinks were good.
I had the oxtail and it was to die for, excellent quality and splendid flavour. When I go back, the oxtail will be ordered again. All in all we had a great time and I am going to try the Stratford one later this week. I hope it is equal or greater than the Royal Victoria Dock.

I have been to Caribbean Scene Excel on possibly three occasions now and have had three takeaways over the five or so years that it has been opened. In all, this gaff is a joke; inavariably selections on the menu is unavailable. The order is almost always incorrect and the staff seem to think it is all a joke. Well this place is a joke and I think the sooner they close, the better.
Now, Caribbean Scene Stratford is all together a different entity, well cooked food, friendly staff and totally no pretension. Is this because Stratford has a a larger catchment of customers from Caribbean origins? I think that this is very much the case. Should you want good Chinese food in China Town go to the place most frequented by the Chinese and the same edict holds true for Asian food.
Caribbean Scene Excel has long been exposed as a pretentious non event. Forget the notion of visiting this dive! Its not worth the match to set this damned place alight, though, I suspect the owners would be more than grateful.
