Asparagus and Pheasant Egg on Rye Bread with hollandaise sauce was a tiny portion for £6, more of a taster than a starter, partners Potato and Garlic soup was vile and insipid , Main course of Rib eye steak and chips with peppercorn sauce
for £15.50 that you would think would be hard to get wrong, but i think they served some flash fry steak trying too pass it off as rib-eye. Waiter said that the chef tasted it and said it wasn't up to much and gave us a free drink, partners haddock was overcooked and tasteless. This is no gastropub and the local people have obviously realised as there was hardly anybody eating there.
As a pub nice atmosphere and staff were nice, but for food really bad. Won't be going back and would advise the same for anyone else!!

Sunday lunch: roast chicken x 2. Starter (salmon) OK but very unremarkable. Chicken bland, flavourless, chewy. Smear of bread sauce on top. On either side of the chicken, one undercooked, tasteless, frankly quite hostile roast potato. Derisory scatter of greens; depressing little buttons of carrot. The whole dish lukewarm. Honestly, it was motorway service station stuff. Staff perfectly nice. But - especially given some reviews I'd read - very disappointing food.

Sunday lunch. Food ranged from luke warm to hot, overall still quite tasty. Dessert: GBP 5.50 buy you a Eton Mess: Half a meringue, some cream, some strawberry puree (from the supermarket?) and ONE strawberry sliced in 5 little bits. Value: 30p - if that.
