The Mall Tavern

I love the weekend brunches in particular at the Mall Tavern as they have a really good choice, which is unusual outside New York, but I've had some great dinners there too. The service has always been welcoming and there is a relaxed atmosphere. I think this place is one of Notting Hill's gems.

I like this place and not just because it's on my doorstep. I've been living in Ken Mall for just over a year and - having tried ALL the local gastropubs - think this has the best balance in terms of quality of food, drink, service and physical venue.

I can't recommend to anyone enough NOT to go to The Mall. I've been there often over the years, but since it's changed hands, the service and food has drastically dwindled.

The bacon on my eggs benedict looked like it came from a kebab van, and no one in my group of 10, were happy with what they ordered. Presented badly, ingrediented badly, cooked badly - seemingly without thought or care.

Aside from the food, the worst taste left in my mouth was them charging me for an entire Bloody Mary which was split before even one sip had been had.

Don't go.

I took a group of American and Canadian colleagues here after a random search for restaurants near High Street Kensington and we coudln't have been happier with the choice. Being a Tuesday night it certainly wasn't busy and we had the pleasure of sitting in the small courtyard garden. Service was very attentive and they coped very well with our dithering. The menu whilst not overly extensive still kept us thinking and plenty of sharing of our food ensued. Starters of Merguez sausages, tuna carpaccio and soups all received good reviews and mains of salmon on fennel risotto, pork in a creamy mushroom sauce, stuffed trout were delicious. I really can't find any fault with this venue and if ever find a good excuse to be in this part of town again I'll be in again for sure.

Living locally I have eaten here a number of times and have been disappointed the food is not good and is overpriced. I have served cold and under cooked food. I also saw a number of other tables sending food back.

The quality of ingredients used is poor and food always disappointing the beef, onion and pea pie tastes like fatty mince, the burger tasteless, the lamb is ok but for a cheap cut of meat very overpriced.

To call this a gastopub the quality of food needs to improve and the prices need to be realistic.

I have been a regular at this restaurant for a few years and have been twice since the new management took over. Sadly I am a little disappointed at the dull menu. The equally dull new decor and atmosphere could be ignored, together with the unimproved service if the food was better.

Went here recently for Valentines Day and had a really nice time. The food was exceptionally good. The menu was for three courses with a champagne cocktail included. I thought it would be a boring Kir Royale or something but it ended up being with fresh raspberries & mint. Really lovely. Each course had a sharing option which i thought was reslly sweet

We never felt rushed through our food which was nice. Service was very friendly without being over the top.

The only thing I was surprised about was that they weren't that busy. A restaurant with food like this I thought would have been full to the brim but hey, it didn't matter to us as it meant we got better service!

Overall my partner and I were very impressed and will definately be returning again. highly recommended!
