Crab and Winkle Restaurant

I spent the evening there with friends on Saturday 1st October and I have to say that the experience was a huge disappointment.

For the cost, the food was mediocre, the service was very poor, three main courses turned up together, the fourth 5 minutes later. There was no sign of anyone who resembled a manager, the whole place appeared to be run by teenage staff.

Would definitely not recommend it.

We had lunch here today. The fish and chips were really nice, but be warned: we timed it, and it was 55 minutes from ordering to actually receiving our food. I wouldn't usually be that bothered if we were given an idea it would take so long, but no. When I asked if there was a problem with the order, I got a very defensive response, followed up with details of how their deep fat fryer only fits in one fish at a time. Just a hunch, but why not buy a bigger deep fat fryer in that case?! Because I can't remember the last time I waited so long for lunch - unacceptably long, and we certainly wouldn't go back.

Just had dinner on Sonday evening with my girlfriend. Fish was fresh and nicely cooked. We even got a complimentary bottle of wine for joining their mailing list! Finally, dessert (peach tart tatin) was delicious. The location is on the seafront, but the views aren't stunning since you can mostly see the harbour rather than the coast itself.

We'll definetly go back, even if we live in London!
