Raouls Cafe

Dont go to Raouls Cafe, Clifton Road W9. Its bad bad bad. I was rudely and without care refused entry today because I had a baby in a pram. The cafe was 100% empty at the time (it was the middle of a weekday afternoon) and the only 3 or 4 customers there were sitting outside. I complained to the manager and was informed that it is 'company policy' to refuse entry to all prams. What a disgrace. I've been with the pram to crowded cafes and restaurants all over the world including Paris! Raouls is bad bad bad.

This was my first visit to Raouls in Maida Vale. The food was good however the service was very poor. We needed to ask for eveything - more wine, the desert menu, a coffee and so on. We expected more attentive service at this bistro.

Yes I have lived in the area for years and have had a mixes experience there.
OK. Price: It is on the more expensive side but, The ingredients are the best around and therefore they taste better
Its competitors across the street are nowhere near the quality.
Cafe Rougue is OK, and Vicki's is purely plain. Baker and Spice has a bakery focus.......so really there is no competition....so you get what you pay for.
Service: It all depends on WHO serves you. It can be really busy and if the person is a new starter then I am afraid standards re naturally less than say somone who has done that job for a year....
Five years ago the kitchen was really SLOW. That is a long distant memory now and more likely than not the food arrives in less than 10 minutes,,,,even if it is really busy.
Often there is a queue out the front door, so all in all staff deal with a great deal more than any other restaurant I know. It is reassuring that the owner Geraldine is very hand-on...often seen at the deli across the street too. She also has a couple of very loyal restaurant managers (dressed in black shirts) who have been there for years. Service standards in general have been very high over the last two years.
I don't mind popping in for a quick bite.....it is not the ambiance or the service, it is the quality of the ingredients....nothing else matters.

This is such a cute spot and every time I go in my first impressions are great! I invited some friends to brunch there mid-week. The food and coffee were great, perhaps a little overpriced.. The male server was very friendly and helpful but the 3 females on staff made us feel like we were intruding on them when we were in need of anything. It didn't ruin the day but sure wasn't very pleasant.

The breakfast here is excellent! Service is not amazing, but I have never encountered any rudeness over the years.
Despite all the negative comments, I can't help but notice that the place is always full on weekend mornings, and you'd have to queue to get in.

Indeed the service leaves a lot to be desired BUT the eggs benedict are fantastic. in fact try any eggs: they rae tasty, fresh and really well-cooked. in general a fantastic choice on the breakfast menu. tea and coffee are ok.....if you ask me go for a smoothie or a fresh juice though the prices are a bit steep in that department. definitely worth a visit if oyu re a breakfast enthusiast!

Great for brunch and it's always lively and fun but I couldn't agree more with the other reviewers about the service. It's bad although I don't believe the staff are rude. I am a regular on the Sundays and I don't think any other cafes in the neightbourhood can match up! The Italian eggs from Tuscany sure make a big difference...

shame shame shame - the deli opposite is excellent although the prices are higher than most.
Raouls cafe has gone completely downhill.
Having been a resident of warwick avenue for some 7 years I have regularly visited Raouls for breakfast lunch and dinner.
But I must say, the last 4 visits to this place has firmly placed in my mind that I will never return.
The staff are the rudest to date. You walk through the door, they don't even acknowledge you!
It has turned into a miserable place to visit. I was so taken aback by the rudeness of the staff that we relocated after water to the more-friendly courteous cafes across the road - namely vicki's.
a lot needs to change to put raouls cafe back on the map. save your money.
