Read the last review and thought I'd add my comments as our experience couldn't have been more different.

We visited on Friday and were fairly late as on the way home from a visit, needed to find somewhere to suit the whole family. We haven't been to a Zizzi in years and were amazed at the transformation. It was fairly busy but a table was found quickly for us. Service was excellent, we all had different choices of both pizza and pasta and everyone pronounced their food to be brilliant. We weren't expecting anything nearly as good. The prices were good too. Will most definitely be trying our local branch.

When Zizzi restaurant opened a few years ago in Chiswick High Road, we took the opportunity to visit it with friends and family for lunches and dinners.

In the summer of 2005, four of us went for a pizza but remained appalled by the low quality of the food served. The meal put me off visiting the restaurant and I never went back since.

Meeting a friend for lunch in Chiswick the wife suggested Zizzi, and I put my one bad meal to the back of my mind and went anyway.

I ordered a calzone, a Peroni beer that came warm and a chocolate cake. The pizza dough was uncooked, the tomato sauce acid and all together it was a disgusting pizza that repeated itself for the rest of the afternoon and beyond. Even a pizza from Lidl or those provided for children parties taste better than the calzone I had.

I did say to the waiters that it was a pretty disgusting meal. However, most important, I can tell that I still felt sick the day after. It would have been an excellent pizza if I was trying to get off food to follow some sort of a slimming diet.

When I arrived home at 3pm I started drinking herbal teas and despite having invited friends for dinner I didn’t touch any food all night and none the morning after; I am still drinking herbal teas hoping that whatever has blocked my digestive system will soon “pass away”.

It is not rocket science to make a pizza; ingredients are pretty standard and, generally speaking, are not expensive. It has taken me almost two years to come back to Zizzi but rest assured that I will not be going back at all to ZIZZI restaurants and I doubt very much that any of my friends will either.

PS – Zizzi gives a bad name to Italian cooking.
