I have eaten at wholemeal cafe a number of times. I have taken all my vegetarian friends there and I have surprised the non-vegetarian ones! It's a very nice place and at last, some choice for vegetarians! The menu is simple and affordable. In addition to the standard menu, there are 3 or 4 main 'specials' of the day and they tend to be a soup served with yummy bread, one or two vegetable bakes (yes, the bake often involves cheese) served with a taster of several of the delicious salads in store, and a vegetable stew served on a mountain of brown rice. The food is delicious. The simple 'large salad' option (a selection of all the salads you can see in the fridge/counter) is a feast even for vegans. The juices are fresh from the juicer and the organic wine is quite nice. Amongst the desserts, I have only tried the fruit crumble (it was plums that day but it varies) and it was delicious. The atmosphere is cosy and relaxed. Staff are superfriendly. The order is placed at the counter and then you can just relax and enjoy the evening. Takeaway is available and cards are accepted. It is open from 12pm to 10pm every day and... I'm quite hungry now!!!

This is my all time favourite restaurant, I have been going there for about 20 years or more. I too no longer live in the area but luckily my friend still does.
