Beeing in London on a business trip from The Netherlands I decided to give Ramsay's Devonshire a try. Other commenters really do have a point when telling that writing a Kitchen Nightmare style review really is useless and I certainly do not intend to. But when I saw fishcakes as a starter on the menu... I could not resist, since Ramsay orders those in at least 8 KN episodes. They passed the test by the way. Fresh, well presented without too much frills. The fishcakes came with some leaves and a mangochutney, which really lifted the flavour of the cakes. For mains I chose the confit dug leg with white beans. This is a very classic dish from the south-west of France. I visit that area on a regular basis and I have eaten this dish numerous times. But i can advise all the French to go to The Devonshire in London, because this dish was absolutely stunning. I have never had this dish so perfectly cooked.
My overall conclusion that I will definitely go back to The Devonshire. The food is simple, but amazingly wel cooked and presented, the staff was friendly, servicestandard is high and I found the atmosphere relaxing.
I have been told that Ramsay will open a restaurant in The Netherlands... I am looking forward to it.

A friend had a dinner party there couple of weeks ago and it was my first time to this pub.
The atmosphere was great! The second I walked in I feel relaxed...the dark colour oak wall and comfortable looking sofa really work!
I was really hungry, so I ordered the Soft herring roes on toast as an entree, it was so rich in flavour and very tasty. Lemon sole with crushed Jersey royals and caper butter was my main, a bit small, portion wise, but it tasted fresh!
Vanilla and gingerbread cheesecake, balsamic strawberries is to dead for!! It was so creamy, not the usual cheesecake, almost like eating just the cheesecake filling, which I love, will go again just for that.
Services was great, we were there until 11:30pm on the Sunday night without being disrupted once by the staff. Oh, they sang Happy Birthday to my friend as well, that's very nice of them.
Really enjoyed it. Costed me about £30 (not including alcohol) which is very good value for money in my opinion.

The Devonshire is a really great addition to the Chiswick restaurant scene. The food was fantastic and the service second to none, also we found it to be very reasonable - £80 for the 2 of us having 3 courses each, wine and service, so cheaper than a lot of other 'gastropubs' we've visited.

A few of the people reviewing this place have missed the point. This is a great gastro pub with a lovely bar area at the front with some comfy seats and sofas and a well considered short and sweet menu.
Think simply cooked langoustines, pies, fish and chips, and so on. The food is very reasonable priced and you will be in an out relatively quickly. I’ve eaten here many times both before and after it’s current owner and definitely see that it has changed for the better.
If you want to be wowed by food go to one of his more expensive restaurants.

It's very easy to knock a Ramsay establishment and many of these critics seem to have taken it upon themselves to do a Kitchen Nightmares style review. The Devonshire doesn't claim to be anything more that a great local gastropub, and on that basis it delivers brilliantly. It's my local and having been there on a number of occasions I find the food is consistently good, with a regularly changing and relaxed menu. The wine list is good and reasonably priced. And the service is friendly and efficient.
If you go expecting a Michelin starred experience of course you'll be disappointed. For a local gastro pub it's fab.

8 of us dined here today and we all tried different meals. Pretty much all of us enjoyed our meals apart from me. Perhaps I am too fussy or just a littler more discerning; the latter, I think!
I had soup for starters which was not bad, but nothing special. For the main I had neck of lamb which was presented nicely enough but again did little to wow me. For desert I tried the chocolate sponge and ice cream. This was better but looked as though it may have come out of a packet an hour earlier.
I have to comment on the mash potato. I thought it was pretty awful. It was too creamy and had no texture. It could have been smash for all I know!
I have had better food at places half the price. Gordon, why are you buying these gastro pubs - they are not the future, mate!

We booked a table for 7 in December. The place was buzzing with atmosphere. The food was great, I loved the pig cheeks! The service was outstanding and the wines were perfect. Gordon does seem to have a winning formula. I could only recommend this eatery with complete confidence. Excellent value for money.

The Devonshire is a nice pub, but unworthy of the Gordon Ramsey name. Whilst the food was acceptable, and reasonably priced it was nothing out of the ordinary and nowhere near as good as it's local counterparts . Staff forgot to bring a finger bowl for the pint of prawns and also forgot bread with the ploughmans! The food was reasonably priced but was disappointing as we were expecting better things from Mr.Ramsey. Not bad for a local pub,but don't go out of your way.

Absolutely awful food and service. A prime candidate for Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares.

We ate here for Sunday dinner just before Christmas. Being a Ramsay establishment we couldnt wait to go. The bar area is lovely with fires and cool sofas. Alas this was the best part of the night. The food was very cheap looking, chips straight from the freezer and baked in fat. The bread very basic and not much flavour. All in all very overpriced and very basic. We were desperately dissapointed and it actually ruined a perfectly good Sunday. I can not recommend this place at all. On a positive the staff were very nice.
