DON'T EVER EAT HERE

Check the toilets before you eat here, it's a good measure of the standards. If you agree with me and think they are disgusting, then make a beeline for the nearest exit! Unfortuantely i had already ordered and was drinking wine before i came upon this realisation!

This is one of the worst places I have ever eaten in. We ordered a sunday roast which i'm convinced was processed sliced beef you would buy in a packet from the supermarket, heated up with over cooked frozen roast potatoes.

The owners were miserable, and the man stood over the top of us until we ordered. I think he was scared of us doing a runner!!

The service was OK and the place has some atmosphere.

But the food was the worst I had for a long time. We had fish and chips, steak and kidney pie and cottage pie. The food was cheap, but I would rather donate the money than eating there again.

Found the service friendly enough but the food was awful. Went here for a roast dinner. The 'Roast' Turkey was processed, the "Roast' potatoes were from the freezer and the vegetable portions very stingy. At this point I should have realised better but ordered dessert anyway, the apple pie which was not appetising at all.

I suspect the reason this place is still in business is because the majority of customers are tourists and the low prices.

This is untrue. The owners are wonderful people. If they were miserable may be in kind to the patrons demeanor. I am a lawyer and our family has eaten at Green Village since the 1970's. This is one of Greenwich's oldest family restaurants where people can eat well and inexpensive. I just dont believe the negative posts since, if true, they would have closed long ago just like 90% of London eateries.

Visited this restaurant on Friday 8th April 2011, we ordered prawn and avocado salad and burger and chips. The owner of the cafe stood over us until we ordered, both him and his wife were very unfriendly and miserable. The salad was supposed to be served with a roll and butter but it came with a dry piece of brown bread spread with margarine, the bread had obviously been placed on a greasy grill as it had brown lines on it. There was no excuse for this as there was a Greggs bakery nearby selling fresh rolls.. The burger was described as a quarter pounder but was two very over-cooked thin burgers put in a bun. The restaurant was very tatty there was a large vase of dead flowers on the table next to us, a builder was carrying some work for the owner and left his toolbox on one of the tables. The ladies toilets were very smelly and the toilet roll holder fell of the wall when touched. The meal was very overpriced at £20.00.

I have to dis-agree with the comments left by other diners whom have ate at GREEN VILLAGE

i have on many many occasions eaten at this restaurant and never had a bad thing to say. my food has always been lovely, the owners are exceptionally polite and courteous always ready to greet and chat to their customers.

This is a family run restaurant and have had the pleasure of meeting all the family all of which are as pleasant and polite.

I am sure if there were any such complaints as people have stated below had the owners been made aware of this im sure you would have been more than compensated for your grievance.

i would glady eat at this restaurant and pay the prices which are very reasonable considering they dont charge you "tourist prices"

Yes it is a quaint little homely restaurant which is suitable for a quiet meal with family and or friends.

Disgraceful!! Myself and family went out for sunday lunch. We decided on Green village. Very out dated, as soon as we received the starter we knew we had made a bad choice. Garlic mushrooms were obviously frozen, not a flavor of garlic in sight truly dreaful. My Aunt had fish and sauted potatoes for main> The fish was battered to death with no white fish to be seen anywhere the potatoes were an iceland special (thats an insult to iceland) the peas were like bullets!!! We sent it back in disgust and my aunt went without. Extremley overpriced- toilets were digusting!! If you want to pay for overpriced frozen food this is the place to go. If you do find yourself in Greenwich on a Sunday go the Market and buy some fresh food off the stalls!!!!!

This is one of our favourites.

The kebabs and the lamb kelftiko are particularly delicious.

The service is kind and attentive, and there is a good range of reasonably priced wines, including some less usual ones from Turkey.

Excellent value for money and highly recommended.
