Recently re-opened after a refurbishment, I wondered where the money had been spent, as there appeared to be little that had changed.
That extended to the service, which was just as slow as it has always been - it seems that when there are more than about 10 customers in the place, the staff can't cope. Get it half full and your waiting time shoots up.
The food? Hmmm... Looks good when you read the menu, but the reality just doesn't match the description which, combined with long waits and arriving at best, warm, and at worst, cold, makes for an unpleasant experience.
Not a shadow of its former self - I used to go to the Maple Leaf quite regularly (1-3 times per week) but can see no point in going there now.

This is a nice pub in the Covent Garden area of London. It has a very Canadian theme, and many of the meals and beverages come from Canada. I went there twice, and I was not disappointed. I had the club sandwich, and while it did not taste like any club sandwich I had ever eaten in Canada, I did not mind as it was excellent! I liked it so much that I returned a bit later on during the week and had another one.
The staff was friendly and very helpful, and the service was also excellent. The prices were reasonable... for London (which is to say incredibly expensive for anywhere else in the civilized world)! In addition, the mostly Canadian staff and decor give it a homey feeling that will definitely appeal to Canadian expats and tourists.
The only drawback was that they were showing football on the televisions rather than the Stanley Cup Finals! Blasphemy to a Canadian I say, blasphemy!
By all means, go and give it a try!
