Paolo's Ristorante Italian

I have been a regular here for decades as Paolo's is consistently quite good - not the place to come for haute cuisine, but for a perfectly acceptable meal of almost-retro Ialian cooking it is fine...minestrone, tuna w/beans, sauted mushrooms to start and then a pasta, veal dish or prawns for mains - there are also quite a number of veggie dishes if you include the pasta and the specials.Puddings aren't Poalo's strong suit - tiamisu is ok, but for some reason the waiting staff drench all the puddings in cream.
I ate at Paolo's last night and it was packed which meant the staff were over-stretched but they still coped - just. Two grumbles: unless you order side veg/salad you can end up with just three slices of veal on your plate (as I did last night), and the portion sizes seem to be getting smaller.
