I was at the Vintry last Friday: place was busy, but the service was quick. The food was delicious: fantastic rare bread sirloin steak, and my two companions had a very nice pea and lemon ravioli, and a fish and chips, very fresh and with a nice batter. Highly recommended: will go again

Just got back from lunch there. All the items on the menu looked good. I had the seafood salad to start which was a decent sized portion and very tasty. Decided to have the rib-eye steak for the main course as that's usually a good dish for gauging a place. I went for a 10 oz rib-eye, no sauce. The steak had been cooked well in that it had a good char grilled effect. However, the steak was cooked medium instead of the medium rare I had requested and more importantly the meat was chewy. I eat steak regularly so I know when a piece of rib-eye is decent. The chips were disappointing - it really is good enough for any place to do bad chips and there really isn't much point in serving the steak on top of the chips unless you want the meat to keep cooking and the bad chips to go soggy. There was a side salad served with the meal which was all very well in terms of the leaf variety but would have benefitted from something more interesting than a dash of balsamic to dress it. The scores:
Food: 4 - I've had worse but they really need to do better.
Service: 7 - Very pleasant person serving us and attentive.
Atmosphere: 6 - Nice enough place and plenty of space between table which many other place get mean with.
Value for money: 3 - You're paying over the odds here but the meat quality issue makes me feel like I'm being cheated a bit.

My daughter was married on Saturday 27th February and held her reception at The Vintry. What an amazing experience that was - absolutely brilliant in every way. The food was excellent and the staff so pleasant and courteous. The Manager, Nick was so thoughtful and helpful and made my daughters day so wonderful - thank you Nick and all the staff, including, Chefs and bar staff.
