The one abiding memory of this place remains how incredibly rude the staff were. People describe Brady's as "posh" fish and chips- nonsense, it's just a chippy with knives and forks and an owner who seems to think all his customers are plebs. The ability to fry cod without messing it up is not really high on the list of Things to Become Self Congratulatory About

this place is great. Its basically a posh fish n chippy in that it does all types of fish, but the best bit is that its also very relaxed. i visit Bradys at least once a month when we dont fancy cooking and its always great food at a very good price. highly recommend

I am a regular at the Fish Club on St John's Hill, but after visiting Brady's for the first time last night I am changing my allegiance! With a real "family-run" feel, personal service and fantastic fish (batter to die for), big portion of chunky chips and a huge bowl of the yummiest mushy peas, I will definitely be back.

Dreadful. At £15 for take-away small cod & chips you might expect to be served up something good but absolutely not the case. Of the two (very) small pieces of cod one was inedible - overcooked to the point of being completely dried out. The other piece wasn't much better; sad and grey with heavy, cloying batter. The chips were dry, tasteless and just dull. Service was completely disinterested and slow.

I shan't be returning.

Not great. The Service was at best 'disinterested' and bordering on rude. The decor is not 'retro' it is run down and unloved; the flap on our table was held up with wine corks and kept threatening to collapse! The choise of fish was less than i'd been expecting after the reviews and did not seem to be particularly seasonal. The starters were just about ok (but expensive) but all three main courses ordered were grilled fish and all three were blackened and burnt to the point where they were almost inedible. Didn't bother with the desert after that. Extremely disappointing as it was a 60th birthday meal for my mum and at nearly £70 for fish and chips for three I was really expecting a great deal more. I think they have got complacent and stopped trying as they have such a reputation; bit of a touch of the emperor’s new clothes as well. I would not go anywhere near the place again; a dreadful experience.

I first visited in mid December, and have been here 4 times since. As somebody from Clapham, I am used to paying a premium for decent fish. Not here - extraordinarily good value for money, and some of the freshest, well-sourced and simple (in a good way) fish to be had in London. The menu changes according to what was good and available in the fish markets, but there are several staples always on and always excellent (cod, haddock, sole, bream, etc)... I do miss the cockle starter from my first visit though.

There were a couple of mix-ups with side orders, but nothing serious and rectified quickly. The atmosphere and somewhat cozy tables can at first seem to be a very 'local' thing, but we have generally ended up talking to other diners and/or the owner by the end of the night. As you can't book, perhaps expect a wait at weekends in the evening, but it's quicker than you think and well worth it.

I almost left a bad review as I'd have liked to keep this place a secret. My conscience got the better of me though. Go.

As a boy, I am afraid I could not get overly excited about fish 'n' chips. Whether this was due to the fact that I always understood fish 'n' chips to be hunks of soggy cod, made more so by the lashings of vinegar that was religiously and liberally applied, or whether I was genuinely non-plussed with the idea of devouring our fishy friends, I do not know. One thing I can be sure of is that Brady's has sparked a genuine and almost insatiable desire for fish 'n' chips. The fish is utterly superb and the chips are just right, I promise you. The ambiance is 10/10 and value for money is also high on the agenda - another 10/10.

If, like me, you would rather cut your ears off than drink white wine, I can assure you that the rose that they offer is very drinkable.

I loved it here. You will too. Treat yourself, try Brady's, try their amazing tartare sauce (more like Bernaise), try it all tonight. You'll thank me.

We tried Bradys for the first time on Friday night and opted for a takeaway. The staff were lovely, really friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely perfect, crispy chips and tender fish, not oily or greasy at all. The only let down were the mushy peas, which were very tasty but stone cold! We will be back!

I am from New Zealand and thought that the only good fish and chips where from my home country...oh I am so wrong. This is where they get even better. Great really really fresh fish, the best chips i have ever tasted and the chef is from Portugal so there is a wonderful med twist to alot of the dishes....the fish soup is the best i have ever tasted...even in Portugal. If you live near here you MUST visit...even if you dont live here it is SO worth the visit. It also is the really good value...i'm a fan incase you hadn't guest.

Brady's has just opened up in Earlsfield at the Open Page. I don't work for them or own it although you may think so after reading this.

I have been 3 times in the last month and the food has been consistently high standard and great value.

I had a massive bowl of calamari for £3.50 which was so fresh and tender it must have been swimming that morning, the potted shrimp is great, the cockles are served with a wedge of lemon and some mayo for £1.75! I had a perfectly cooked whole John Dory for £8.95, I dread to think what I would have paid for that in town.

Get down there and eat some fresh fish how it is meant to taste.
