Visited tue. 29th feb 2011. Absolutely awfull dining out experience. My wife and I were invited by two friends to whom this restuarant was recommended.
Three of us ordered the Sea bass Main course and were told they had run out.
We then asked for two salmon starters as a main course and were told a party of eight had all ordered this starter and therefore no salmon left.It was only 8.30 pm and hardly any diners. We asked if there was any fish and the waiter said we could have pan fried haddock and chips and the portions were large!
We had one parsnip soup, miniscule, one pate also miniscule. Our mains were duck leg on a bed of lentils with porcini mushrooms ,one i think. pan fried haddock really tiny portions tasteless with about eight chips stacked up like a lego castle and some mushy type of peti pois. The fourth main a cheese salad starter.
Salad was too salty had to be sent back.
Two glasses of chardonney and four teas, one teacup sent back as dirty and a bill of £92 incl.service. What a rip off ,never again. Should have walked out before ordering, but we were with guests. Try Charlottes place in Ealing commom next time.

This place has changed management in the last 6 months - BEWARE! They appear at the moment to be trading on the reputation of the previous management. Having eaten a couple of excellent meals here in the past, I was looking forward to going again. How disappointing.
We had booked a table for two but the man on the phone who took our reservation hadn't asked for a surname - and since they had called to confirm earlier in the day, we weren't concerned about the booking. But when we turned out we were given a stern grilling about it but three different members of staff - "WHAT was the surname??" So having been made to feel decidedly unwelcome we proceeded into the restaurant.
Things started well enough - with scallops - which were cooked well if a tad expensive. But then came the main course. Only one word - poor. I had ordered a warm salad of duck - which turned out to be a plate of undressed raw spinach leaves, boiled green beans, a few minute boiled potatoes and a few morsels of plain duck. That was it. No dressing, no flavour and no seasoning. Dire. When the waitress came over and asked if everything was alright I replied "not really". She seemed quite taken aback. I said the salad had no flavour and really needed some dressing - a few minutes later another member of staff appeared with a jug of what appeared to be Pizza Express salad dressing. Hmmmm. My partner had ordered the steak - which for £17 should have been reasonably good. He said it was fatty, not that tasty and the chips were pretty anaemic. We decided to skip dessert. I wouldn't recommend this place - it's overpriced, and the service isn't up to scratch. One of the times I went before, the waitress had come over and offered us a free dessert because she said the service had been slow - we hadn't noticed anything wrong. But I cannot imagine this kind of thing happening there now. It's a shame as there aren't many good gastro pubs in Ealing.

The EPT was the venue for our wedding reception recently and it has to be said they did a fabulous job. The manger (Enes) was a very chilled out and re-assuring character who delivered on all his promises to make the venue look great and also provide mouth watering food. They where very flexible with regards to menus and drinks and also provided us with exclusivity of the venue ensuring it was our day without intrusion
On the day, all our guests said the food was brilliant and had a great time, none more so than the new Mrs and Myself. In fact the only problem we had was the sounds system was notup to much, however as previously stated this did not subtract from our day and everyone had a great time … I raise my glass to the staff of EPT, a fantastic venue

Quite disappointed if honest. A friend raved about this place, I ordered the crab spaghettini- very little crab. Quite a few bits of shell. Also, as stated in another review- cold- not a huge issue but should've been stated on menu I feel.
Followed up with Wild Rabbit pappardelle. Pasta fine- Ragu fine- the meat in the ragu was dry. Also- it was topped with circles of a form if ballotine of rabbit- but this was encased in an impenetrable rubber like sheath! We had to chase the waitress for spoons, our wine order etc and she didn't crack a smile once. Dessert was glazed banana with ice-cream. Nothing special- just as described. My friend had a good cheese platter though at £9 it should be.
The bill for 3 courses including 1 bottle red Shiraz (that the waitress spilled) and two glasses white was £109. Including an 'optional' 12.5% service charge. We 'opted' to pay £50 each- based on the service we'd received. The waitress chose not to ask us why but squatted to our eye level and said 'thankyou!' before stropping off. There are much nicer and much cheaper places to eat in Ealing.

We hadn't been to the EPT for several years so thought we'd give it a try yesterday for lunch. My husband and I arrived around 2pm to find just one other table occupied but this is probably due to holidays and being a bit later in the day. The waitress was lovely and efficient and more than once she had to suggest to the kitchen staff that they keep quiet. There were at least three of them with little to do. And with this in mind I was optimistic that we'd have food cooked to perfection since there would be no rush. My husband had rabbit rillettes which was a lovely dish. I chose the crab, chilli & coriander spaghettini with lime. First disappointment - it was cold! There was no mention of this on the menu (I double checked when we got them back to order puddings). Perhaps this is why I couldn't taste much, definitely no lime. Considering it was a crab dish, there really wasn't enough crab meat but there seemed to be a hint of crab flavour. It was a lovely looking dish. The main courses brought confusion. It was as though they didn't know it was August. All the offerings except an Indonesian curry were rather winterly. I had a mixed duck dish with a confit cake, mushrooms & sliced duck breast with two tiny pieces of bok (or pak) choi. Again, it looked lovely but was so heavy I couldn't finish it and all the components seemed to taste the same. The duck breast was a little tough even though it was rare. One might think it had been cooked then reheated in a microwave. The flavours were too rich with nothing on the plate to balance this. My husband had cod cheeks with cassoulet and pigs cheeks and clams. Again the thick syrupy (and rather tasty) beans were really heavy. The pigs cheeks were a bit tough and the cod cheeks totally overdone. How this can happen in a kitchen with no pressure is beyond me. Two pieces of long stem broccoli accompanied the dish as well as an abundance of clams. Overall both dishes were far too rich (and brown) for August. I had thought that the EPT took pride in locally sourced seasonal produce but perhaps this has changed as there was no evidence of this practice on any of the chalkboards or on the menu. Fair enough if they are not boasting this but what a disappointment to find a restaurant of this standard not cooking seasonally. The soup, which we didn't have, was sweet potato and I don't think they are grown here - with so many British vegetables to hand it's a shame they didn't make it to the soup. The bread was very good as were the two wines we had. A glass of viognier to start followed by a South American malbec. I am afraid that we won't be going back any time soon. We couldn't decide between Charlotte's and the EPT but next time that won't be a problem.

I have eaten here twice in a couple of months and on both occasions thought that that food was delicious. The menu is imaginative and interesting. The service at the restaurant and the bar has also been exceptional.
The only down-side is that the menu is very pricy.I would say that the quality just about justifies the price but there doesn't seem to be a range of prices to suit a range of budgets. After all, good food doesn't need to be expensive. Therefore whilst I really enjoy eating here, I can and will only do so occasionally.

Style over substance - average "gastro" fare. I live nearby and have been many times on my own when my girlfriend is away and cant be bothered to cook. Dishes are nicely presented but honestly I've never had a good meal here. Often very salty. Often terrible veg - purple sprouting broccoli that was inedible, stringy beans. I had a lobster dish that was really sugary. Portions are fairly meagre not quite nouvelle cuisine but not far off. Menu is well thought out and interesting - but I get impression that junior cooks are knocking up the courses. Service welcoming at first but not interested in feedback.

Revisited after 3 years and checking and seeing very good reviews - what a bust!
Poor service, a steak full of gristle and a waitress who said she woudl show it to the chef and never returned - the manger explaining that it was the usual gristle trom to be expected. When told there was another steak at the same table that was coletely different so how did he explain that, said oh well - a different cut and appreared completely unconcerned. Lobster overcooked and slaty, "hand cut ' potato fries dry and tasteless, risotts started rice hard and also overslated, and sherbet ice cream ' carrot and marsala' very peculiar - other sides fine but overall over-rated, riding on past glory and complacent.

Spent two weeks in Ealing this summer(2009) and went to Ealing Park Tavern for the first time on August 7th for dinner. As soon as my wife and I had finished eating we decided to book a table a week later. The reason was that both the quality of service as well as quality of food was excellent. Some of the best places I've ever been to in London the last 25 years.
Will recommend this place to anyone who appreciates quality.
Price level is somewhat higher tnan ordinary pubs, but of course you pay for quality.
Will go there again if I have the chance.
