Crescent House
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
Ate at Crescent last night with a small group. Food is really excellent but we waited just over an hour from ordering to eating - staff really friendly and apologetic about this but it's a bit rubbish to be short-staffed and unable to cope with orders on a saturday night - why open if you're not ready?
However, they gave us a bottle on the house as apology and when it arrived, the food was great - without exception - and both the upstairs restaurant and bar downstairs are lovely settings. Would return to try it again in a while to see if they're sorted yet.

We live nearby and thought we would give this new bar/restaurant a try ........what a let down. We were the only 2 diners in the upstairs restaurant and the service was far too intrusive - the waitress didn't leave us alone and when not at the table stood stareing at us! Although the menu looked good the food is far too pretentious and very badly prepared. We had morecombe bay prawns to start which were hard from overcooking . The seabass was also so overcooked it was crispy and turning up at the ends and covered with truffles. In fact the chef must have bought a job lot of truffles because shavings were on everything. The steak was stringy and fatty and the fries were soft and wet -like they had been warmed up in a microwave . After this we got the bill and left feeling hungry and mugged......never again!

Went there last night for dinner - really fantastic Chef. Food tastes and looks amazing - presentation has the wow factor to impress and usually associated with the mega priced mayfair restaurants! We had the Pork Belly and Langoistines to start, followed by Beef and Sea Bass - all superb - Save room for the chocolate fondant though!
We had a drink in the bar downstairs to start which was very nice, but ate at the more formal restaurant on the floor above
Found staff to be attentive and knowledgable, as you would expect in a quality restaurant but still relaxed and never intrusive
It was a Monday night so wasn't too busy and lacked the atmosphere of a busier night, but apparently only been open a couple of weeks - a great find, good value, and just off the portobella rd, would recommend and will definately be going back myself
Menu is only small, but choosing what to have still wasn't easy as it all sounded so good
