Yet another restaurant in W8 that I had never heard of after a lifetime in London - I must get out more.
Two of us had a very enjoyable lunch there this week. As the previous reviewer said, it is not unlike the Poule au Pot of the 70s and 80s. It is more basic and has less character, but it is none the worse for that.
Set lunch was very good value at around £14, the house wine seemed fine and it had an old-world gentility and slight amateurishness about it that I for one found charming.
Service was haphazard but unfailingly courteous and well-meaning, and Stratford Road itself is a lovely little street, with an excellent butcher and deli just across the street. We might try it for supper one evening, I think.
