Having been living in UK for 25 years, I had to try Matsuba restaurant as a Japanese who lives in Richmond. If you want to try Japanese food, please do NOT go there. Maybe cool to go there only if you just want to `say' someone that 'I went to a Japanese restaurant!'.

I did not try sushi there, so it may be the main stuff in this restaurant, to be fair....but their GYOZA and YAKISOBA are the worst in my life ever!!! Even Wasabi's yakisoba is far better!!!

OK, I am Japanese and I may be a bit fussy about Japanese food. This is a Korean run Japanese anyway....but....this is my message to the Korean owner and the 'Japanese' head chef of Matsuba, PLEASE try some other Korean run Japanese restaurant e.g. Ramen Seto near Oxford Circus. You will find a proper and nice gyoza with proper soy&ra-yu sauce there.

Sorry to say that I will not go back to this restaurant again. This restaurant is far too expensive with the worst food ever. I would rather suggest my friends to go to Pizza Express/Thai/Indian/Wagamama near there.

My favourite restaurant in Richmond apart from Chez Lindsey. Best sushi I've tasted. Great atmosphere. The staff are quite formal but polite and helpful.
