“I had booked this venue for our first ever Christmas lunch so it was important to me that it went well. This was in Dec 2011 and the booking was for 15 of us – not a massive amount and it wasn’t particularly busy on the day we went there.

Positives:

1) Very quick to take your deposit and process the booking 10/10

2) Fairly good location in the heart of the City – usually grotty bin bags piling up down the side road that it is situated on. 5/10

3) We had one lovely waitress who was extremely embarrassed at the way the Manager had spoken to us and was apologetic to us – 9/10

Negatives (here I go):

1) The table was about as Christmassy as a frozen turkey, no crackers, napkins, nada....0/10 (such a shame)

2) Service was shocking, and we were constantly ignored when we tried to order drinks (can I give a minus number here) -1/10

3) We had pre-ordered our menu choices one week before, however waited for almost one hour before we even saw light of the first starter 1/10

4) Food orders were completely mixed up, at no stage were they apologetic, apparently it was our fault (did I mention we’re a group of professional PAs and EAs - organisation is our middle name.. THEY got it wrong 1/10

5) Brussell sprouts… like bullets, impossible to cut 2/10

6) Manager – extremely rude to one of my colleagues when she asked if they could bring out her dessert straight after her main as we had waited so long and she needed to get away (a 1 hour lunch turned into a mammoth 3 hrs) – he was very good at bowling past us trying to look important (10/10 for effort) – Poor poor Management – 1/10

7) Dessert – some of didn’t even get a dessert even though they had been ordered and when I tried one of them, I quote myself “this would have been better if it had come from Iceland’s) and it was still frozen 1/10

So all in all, a really bad experience but it wasn’t their fault, their delivery hadn’t turned up… Hmm not sure I’m buying this. We didn’t pay for the rest of the meal, but part of me wishes that I’d demanded our deposit back and left £1 after our horrendous lunch and experience. The Assistant Manager did say that we would keep in contact – not entirely sure why, as to this day I haven’t even been offered as much as a discount to come back or a complimentary drink for us girls.

Don't go to this bar if you’re looking for anything remotely civilised, polite, friendly or tasty. You simply won’t find it here apart from staff and Senior Management with very poor customer service skills who really couldn’t give a care in the world about your dining experience.

Stay away large parties, they simply cannot cope!!”

Typical City bar. Busy and quite loud some nights but chilled out at lunchtime and earlier in the week. Cocktails are pretty good, though not hotel bar standard, but then they are only 6.95. The food is ok, nothing special but better than most bar food, and there are decent Happy Hour deals until 7pm. Can take a while to get served so we order two drinks at a time, simples.
