24th November, 2007, My wife and I ate here after finding Simplicity on the web, and looking for somewhere to eat while staying nearby overnight in London. We were most impressed both with the food and the service. The food was excellent, freshly cooked, absolutely delicious and fantastic value for London. The service was very good, our waitress was very friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. The owner, Lawrence, came and spoke to us for quite a time, which we really appreciated as the small but delightful restaurant was very busy. I would have no hesitation in returning and have already recommended the place to friends, well worth a visit.

My husband and I can't get enough of the superb food and excellent value offered by Simplicity. The owner and chef, Laurence, makes you feel very much at home and creates a comfortable atmosphere in which to enjoy tasty, fresh dishes from a small, seasonal menu. The french onion soup and the creamy goats cheese salad are particularly good starters - definitely worth a try if they are on the menu! There is a great house red, but there are some other gems on the wine list as well offered at a very fair price.

We took a group of 8 here and everyone was impressed with the friendly, cozy atmosphere and the fantastic food. This restaurant is worth travelling for!

I have been twice in the last two weeks - in the evening on both occasions and both booked at short notice. The food and service were excellent. This is a really good value for money restaurant which serves first class ingredients, very well cooked and presented. See their website for sample menus. The wine list is interesting and excellent value - on our first visit the owner was assessing two new wines and as we were leaving offered us a tase to see which we preferred - typical of the unfussy, friendly atmosphere. Worth a visit - or several - even if it is a bit off the beaten track (we live close and found it by accident).

Finally ate at this lovely little restuarant on Sunday afternoon after reading a review in the Southwark News some weeks back. I am pleased to say that it was well worth the wait!

I had rump of lamb served with bubble and squeak and fresh veg and it was fantastic, cooked to perfection.

Great food, a nice personal service from the owner, Laurence, who introduced himself and was very attentive, and good value for money. I can't wait to go back!

Went there on Saturday night for the first time.

Nice interior - felt surprisingly cosy for a white room - and good atmosphere.

The menu is not extensive, nor is the wine list, but you get the impression that they'd rather do a few things very well than lots of things in an adequate way. I'm not sure how often the menu changes but I suspect quite often.

Food was excellent. Good portion size and very well presented. The wine was very good too.

Staff are friendly and attentive.

Best of all? The bill. £70 for dinner for three course dinner for two, two bottles of wine. Excellent.

Going to go back soon for breakfast.

This is what Rotherhithe and Canada Water have been waiting for for so long. A restaurant and a chef that really care for the clients.

We waited for years for the restaurant to reopen after the previous owner sadly died. We thought it couldn't get better but are happily wrong! The food and the service are truly excellent, with very reasonable prices . Each time we have eaten here (more times than I care to recount), the experience has been great. Absolutely recommended - a restaurant that you really want to keep quiet about in case everyone discovers it!!

A fantastic little secret restaurant. Went on Saturday all the way from NW London having read the reviews and we were not disappointed. Simplicity is the word. Simple decor and simple menu. But there was nothing simple about the food, it was inventive, well presented and incredible tasting no surprise that it was packed out. It has been a long time since I have been so blown away by a restaurant.

The chef plates up all of the food in full view of the customers which denotes pride and confidence of a chef who clearly knows exactly what he is doing. He also took the time to have a little chat with us.

The staff are friendly, attentive and polite and the prices are more than reasonable.

What more can you ask for for a great night out. After coffee why not visit the Mayflower pub just around the corner for an after dinner cognac overlooking the Thames.

We had a great evening and will definitely be going back for more.

I simply cannot praise this restaurant highly enough. The only shame is that it is half empty when when the (frankly appalling foodwise) Mayflower pub is full. We ate from the set menu and everthing was incredibly fresh with an attention to detail usually found in much more expensive places, all washed down with beautiful Malbec. I sincerely hope this place manages to survive its difficult first year or so.

I love this restaurant... food is great, staff attentive and friendly.

I have been here three times in the last couple of months with my girlfriend, and have never been disappointed. Every time, the owner/chef comes and chats with us to ask our opinions on the food, inviting criticism and comments.

On top of all this, you don't need to break the bank to eat here. A typical dinner for 2 needn't cost more than £30, providing you don't go mad with the wine...

I only hope it doesn't get too popular, there aren't that many tables!

I went to Simplicity yesterday evening with my partner and her father on his recommendation (as he had been last week whilst we were away). The food was really fantastic. I went with the set menu and had a traditional prawn cocktail, followed by Alaskan salmon with mud pie for desert. All three course were delicious and the total cost for all three was £16 which I considered to be fantastic value.

The menu isn't very long, but I personally think this works to many restaurant's advantage as you know that all of the different meals will be good and that the ingredients are more likely to be fresh.

Service was excellent as was the wine. I can't recommend this place highly enough to those who live in Rotherhithe/Canada Water/Surrey Quays. It is just what the area needs.
