Had a really nice evening here on Friday 19th August, I went with a group of friends and we all agreed that we will be coming back! The food was extremely tasty, and we had a rum and black forest gâteaux for dessert that was honestly one of the best I have tasted, there was music and a really nice and friendly vibe throughout the few hours we spent here, and did i mention there fruit punch, absolutely delicious.....

Might be worth mentioning that they have had a refurb, and now have 2 lovely men working upstairs!! very good evening indeed!!!

I visited Jerk City one lunch time in Apr11 with some work colleagues for a quick bite to eat. I was very disappointed that this place had nothing available on their menu for vegetarians. There was not even an alternative suggested. The excuse was that "we are running behind today".

As it was almost 13:30 in the afternoon, if Jerk City as a restaurant are unable to get their act together for the lunch time rush, then they do not deserve to be in business and will certainly not be getting my business in future.

Thanks to IMLI (a few doors down Wardour Street) my colleagues and I enjoyed a very pleasant Indian Tapas lunch, which was very tasty. Thanks IMLI. To all prospective Jerk City customers, I would suggest you walk past Jerk City the next time you are tempted by a carribean meal and give IMLI (167 Wardour Street) a try!

Jerk chicken was OK, service was poor.

Went for lunch today. Despite the place being nearly empty, the waitress decided to sit us on a table for 4 where there were already 2 people sitting!

Luckily we noticed it was comprised of 2 smaller tables, so were able to inch our table 6 inches away - but not great.

She then took ages to take our order, and it took ages to arrive. We got our drinks even later as she forgot and had to ask us again what we had ordered.

Another waitress looked just as confused - not sure which of about 8 diners to give 2 plates of food to.

The food was OK, nothing amazing and at 20 quid I would have expected better service.

Paying took ages as well. Probably won't go back here!

The food was yummy and tastey, fresh and home cooked.3 of us dined and all ate different starters and maincourses so we tired a few of the delightful dishes from the menu. The atmosphere was great the guys running this place couldnt have made us feel more welcome. The staff were conscientious about the cleanliness of the whole place, with no disturburbance to the clientele whilst discreetly maintaining this and the washrooms were spotlessly clean too. My only gripe is that i live too far from there to go more often!

Thank you very much our dining experience at Jerk City was happy and memorable. Also great value for money.

100 percent recommended.

The jerk chicken didn’t have much of a jerk flavour, plus it was smothered in what seemed to be a BBQ sauce, which overpowered the dish. These two ingredients didn’t flow together well and it seemed like the sauce was being used to camouflage the lack of flavour in the chicken. The sauce also seemed very processed – as if it had been poured straight out of a jar from the supermarket.

The dish came with a small salad plus a portion of rice & peas…a staple Caribbean food that did not disappoint. The rice had the distinctive pinkish colour and the grains were nicely separated. But this is no less I would expect from any decent Caribbean restaurant.

Once I scraped most of the sauce away the meal was pleasant enough to eat, but I have had far better. Overall, I think it was a very lazy effort and wouldn’t hurry to have it again.

Very disappointing. For the same price, we could have had a far superior meal at Imli, just a few doors down. The jerk chicken was poor - Mainly bone and the sauce tasted just like chili ketchup. The curried mutton was better, but the flavour was still lacking and the quantity of meat not over-generous for a large serving, (£8.50). The dumplings were inedible and clearly not freshly cooked. Also, my dish arrived just as my companions were finishing their meals! I certainly wouldn't go back or recommend it.

Not impressed. I took a friend on Sunday lunchtime and although the standard of cooking was good, the service was cold, unfriendly and grim-faced. Some may say that the food is the main part, and I agree it's important, but I like to experience a good atmosphere too, especially on a date. The staff working on Sunday quite clearly wanted to be somewhere else, and they didn't care who knew it. I also can't see how other reviewers describe the portion size as generous - it was OK, but no better than that.

Absolutely terrific! Great friendly greeting into the restaurant...great Caribbean food, the barbeque chicken was delicious and juicy. The mutton curry was also very flavoursome and an absolute pleasure. Service is very quick and friendly and the portions are massive, it filled up even a big boy like myself. And for the money you can have no complaints what so ever. This restaurant knows exactly what it is and isn't trying to be something it's not. It does great home-cooked Caribbean food. I would recommend this to anyone. I'll definitely be going back, that's for sure!

Cheap Eats In London

Cheap Eats In London

Thursday, July 16, 2009 - I love Caribbean food and it doesn't get much better than this. A plate of curried chicken, with rice and peas and salad will set you back around 6.50 for a medium, or 7.50 for a large; Medium is a big enough plate for me. I've eaten at this place plenty. I've had all the chicken dishes (jerk chicken, curry and stew) and the curried mutton and each time the meat is cooked to perfection in their respective sauces and all cooked on the bone, as it should be. They're generally busy but super organised at the same time...
