Brinkley's Garden Restaurant

Had not been here for about a year and decided to return last Wednesday. Memories of this place were good - nice atmosphere, attractive crowd and most importantly good food. First thing that I noticed when I arrived was premiership football playing on LCD screens in the bar - which is not what I want to see in the bar area of a restaurant! Secondly, having a look around, the average age of the crowd was easily 50+, and the place had no buzz whatsoever about it. However, I was thinking as long as the food is good, I can overlook all of the above. Sadly, the menu has not changed since my last visit. Quite frankly, deep fried, breaded brie has no place on a serious restaurant menu in 2008! Going straight for main then, it got no better. The calves liver was bland and overcooked. I will not be back.

Having written a scathing review of Jo'e Brasserie last weekend it's only fair to give praise where it's due. Had lunch here yesterday and it was delicious. The most tender beef teriyaki I've ever had followed by superb eggs benedict. What a difference to last week. And this time the service was excellent.

A great atmosphere in the bar area and definitley a place to meet people. The bar staff discuss the clientele in french especially about the ladies quite derogativley thinking that no one else in the world can speak french. An OPTIONAL service charge is always added which when queired actually does not seem to be optional.

food delicious and wine sensibly priced but the evening was spoiled by smokers in the restaurant. Strangely the bar is non-smoking!

Very popular bar/restaurant in Holywood Rd. Packed out on the Friday night we were there - noisy and cramped but not unpleasant. The food was modernish Europeanish, well constructed and priced. My mushroom risotto starter was solid. The main of seared tuna with nicoise vegetables/aioli was very good - only "fault" was that it was slightly overseared (I like it almost completely raw). The dessert menu looked very pedestrian so we went elsewhere. Price £26/head incl service (no wine). Service was fast and efficient. Recommended.

Fantastic in every way - good food, well priced, Our waitress called Lucy, was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The wine list is great and again well priced with a good mixture. Although I couldnt reccommend this restaurant more.

I took my boyfriend there for his birthday last night and it was amazing! They have a beautiful range of dishes, and all delicious, generously portioned and reasonably priced, what more can one ask for!
